I'm missing the point of this (yeah, I read the explanation). Yeah, sometimes people misperceive innocently spoken words, but often enough words are used abusively with the intent to emotionally injur or provoke. And they also can have that effect contextually when used out of ignorance to the cultural 'values' they may represent. One word is not the same as another. Yes or no?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

My first thought was that these two guys were really really backwoods. I didn't attribute any particular race to them, but then, I'm a bit strange that way.

I wasn't insulted until you said they were from Maine. There was nothing in there at all that would suggest that. I can't quite put my finger on why, but that bothers me.
