Hey Gregory, is your fiance by chance one of the original "Gang of 6" girls that created one of the QQ groups we've all been using to get our interview dates? If so, way to go! dancin5hr.gif

cannot bring electronics into the Consulate or the IV unit. No news of lockers, at the moment, for the newly Consolidated Consulate Compound.

In the past, couples who went in together - the USCitizen usually was the mule for the gear. Of course, the USCitizen could not get inside, but hey !

Wow, it's gonna be really hot outside and I don't do heat very well. I suffered a near heat stroke many years ago and ever since then, heat has not been my friend. I hope we can find somewhere to store our "gear", otherwise we may just have to leave our cell phones at the hotel a mile and a half away. I hate being without a way to make phone calls, but I hate heat even more! lol

Thanks!

you know the uscitizen can't get through that entrance, right?

you two should split up, right before, and you hoof it over to the other entrance, if'n you want to 'be on site' for the morning.

re: phone calls - why not switch to walkie-talkies or smoke signals?

Query - what has lead you to believe that a USCitizen will be allowed through the gate entrance to the IV Unit?

Simple logic that it's gonna be really hot and maybe rain. There should be some indoor location where US Citizens can huddle. It's the human thing to do. Of course, we're talking about China, lol. Is there any indoor location we can wait?

I've posted a map over at

http://www.chinafamilyvisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5704#entry86156

http://www.chinafamilyvisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5704#entry86156

http://www.chinafamilyvisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5704#entry86156

and there's some major places marked.

I'm thinking:

1. inside any bank building, must be resturant

2. wa wa wa ! starbucks waaaaaaaaay on the otherside

but - that's just thinking, for now.

There are also 9 buildings inside the consulate compound - I doubt that finding a refuge will be a problem, but we won't know for sure until next week (and we hear back from someone).

The old consulate had a little bit of co-mingling by way of the restroom hallway between ACS and Visa interview windows on the 5th floor - it's not verboten, just frowned upon. Maybe they'll loosen the restrictions/herding at the new place.
