Standard NVC phone answers

I called NVC yesterday just to see if my package had arrived. I wasn't expecting a case number or anything. I received my NOA2 on May 30 and after seeing on these forums how long it takes to send the I-130 to the NVC, I requested rhe USCIS expedite shipping it to them (I also was approved expedite of the I-130 itself). So my USCIS case status now states that it was shipped on the 4th. Well the NVC guy said, that doesn't matter, it still takes 15 days just for the NVC to receive it. Really?? It takes 15 days for the mail to get there?? Is he just spouting off standard answers or what? Thanks for the replies.

I received my NOA2 May 28th and I received the same response from NVC when I called on Thurs except he told me 15 BUSINESS days and then added on for good measure that it can take up to 20 business days after that for them to get it into their system! I'm not sure if they realize how incompetent they sound stating that it essentially takes them a month and a half to pick up an envelope, open it, put the info into their computer, and then mail it out again haha... as for it really taking that long, i'm skeptical. I think this is the generic answer they give everyone in order to deter people from calling nonstop to check. I think the average time is much less than that... i hope : )

But where did you see that your petition was shipped out on the 4th? does that show up when you put your case number in on USCIS's website? Mine still shows the message from the NOA2.

Yes it's my new case status. It reads, "On June 4, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly"

just call them every day

it doesn't really take 20 days to receive it

I know for a fact mine was shipped on June and received on June 6

on June 7, it was logged in as received

if your petition was approved at a local office and you are able to make an infopass.. do it now just in case your file didn't actually leave when they said it did.

My file was approved April 18.. my NOA2 and email both say it was mailed on April 19.. it sat in the local office until june 4, I confirmed this with an infopass and a whole lot of tree shaking got it out of there (I think)

Thanks for your reply. So even though it says it was shipped, it might not be :/. Well my i-130 never got to a local office because its was expedited while still at the national benefits center...

sounds like your good to go!

just keep callin nvc.. remember they are overloaded with petitions as well so the initial input can take an extra day or two.. and I am not sure how the expedite works over there.

To give you an idea of the incompetence you need to expect from NVC, I have been told it usually takes 90, 20 and 15 days for them to receive a file from USCIS, depending on the person answering the call. I have also been told sometimes NVC never receives cases and they just get sent from USCIS direct to consulates, also a complete lie, and on another occasion that once NVC receive a file it takes on average 20-30 weekdays for them to allocate a case number...

the people that answer the phone at NVC really don't know so much.

if you want a real answer to a real question, ask for a supervisor.

or (alternatively)

study 3 months of the NVC Monthly Thread - I suggest February, March, and April 2013..

All of your questions have already been addressed there, complete with answers, from humans.

(not the Sub-Humans who answer the phone at NVC) .
