What are the requirements for a translated birth certificate? Have her birth certificate and it is in spanish. Can I translate it or is there some kind of requirment to translate it for the I 485 form

Documents need to be completed by someone who is competent in both languages and signs a certification statement similar to:

I (typed name) , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and (name of foreign)

languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the

document attached entitled .

Signature

Date Typed Name

Address

Hi,

We had ours translated by a student at a local university by contacting the French language department. For the K1 application it had to be translated by someone and a form signed by them stating they are capable of translating. We used the same for the I-485. I'm not sure if they allow the petitioner to do it but could be.

Happy Journey!
