Just want to add few things if your spouse from Southeast Asia country like me :

- When a daughter moves here, the parents and or other siblings expect her to help her parents back home. It took me several years to change my view on that. My husband was OK helping out my late parents but sending money to the siblings was a problem.

- There are tasty food for us which are nasty for the Americans and vice versa. After 5 years, My husband still couldn't stand the smell of the kitchen after I fry my salty fish or dried baby sardines. I still couldn't stand the smell of sour kraut my husband loves. We finally find the happy medium.

- If you see an Asian faces in the store, approach them and ask where they come from. If they are from the same country as your wife is, ask them if they get together, sometimes the Filipinos like to do pot luck together once in a while. Your wife will be happy to know them.

- Find out the Asian grocery store or restaurants nearby. Yes, there are some online stores but shopping in the grocery store is better.

- it is nice to stay at home but getting a job is still the better. Look at the potential job she could do later. It is really important for me. It is the way to socialize, improve her English, and feel independent.

- it may sound silly, but you may browse the toilet bidet on the Internet ....:-)
