Sooo, as you all know, I had my interview on the 16th of May. Supposedly approved.... but then put on AP....You guys know the rest of the story...

I have been calling DOS twice a week. Checking the website every 1 hour during the day (pathetic I know lol) My case was last updated May 22. So, after finding out that 2 of our member (that had the interview the same day) should be getting their visa/passport soon, I figure, let me call DOS and see what is going on with my case...

The lady again said, "your case is still under AP", I asked ma'am, can you please let me know what is the reason?? Of course she can't tell me b/c she doesn't know (or so they say) She did say that no document is needed. I asked then what is the AP about?, she said that they are checking to see if he qualifies for a visa. (Well is that my reason? or is she telling me this to shut me up? lol) Ok, I understand that they do the back ground check, but how long can it take?? I am so confused. They kept his passport, everything looked good. The CO was even thinking about more questions to ask us.

So I decided to email the consul today, in hopes of getting an answer to my dilemma.

Sorry guys I just needed to vent...Any words of encouragement or advice is greatly appreciated crying.gif (Please do not judge me, I know that there are many people who has been put on AP for months and hasn't received anything. I just need peace of mind)

FYI:

The other times I called I asked a couple of questions...

What is the difference between Administrative Processing and Administrative Review? "NONE"

What is mandatory administrative process and administrative process at embassy level? "I am not sure where are you getting these terms, there are is no such thing as that"

And supposedly, everyone is put under AP even if it is a day or 2.....so the one guy mentioned...

There is not a specific timeline for AP as you know already...My encouraging words to you is just be patient and keep checking frequently. Your visa will come through sooner than you know it. Best!

Everyone gets AP. AP is a background check, verifying documents, verifying relationship

Administrative processing is a term that includes Administrative review

Mandatory AP=background check at washington level

AR=background, relationship, document verification at embassy level

Both can take days or years

The file never leaves the embassy.

Ask DOS one question at a time

May I have a case status update please?

Is it Mandarory?

Is it Internal?

DO NOT ASK IS IT MANDATORY OR INTERNAL?

They are trained to give you little information so be smart and wait for them to answer one question before you ask another

Do not whine to them

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

Sorry to say all you can do, is exactly what you are doing. For some the AP process has been short and for others it has been longer. AP does not happen to all cases and why it happens is not always known. Sooooo, all you can do is be patient and wait it out. Hope you hear some good news soon.

Thank you for your input! :)

But when I asked the questions, I do not whine to them neither do I bombard them with questions. I am aware that they can only give little information. That is why i said "other times that I have called" Nonetheless, thank you so much :)

I know mama, thank you. Question for you, if you don't mind, did they keep his passport?

As long they kept the passport its only a matter of days before the visa is on.., in many cases people was put on AP while they got there pasport back it took them few months., but since they kept it then u shouldent be worry.

Bet of luck

Well, I did mention to one of the specialist that they kept his passport, and she told me that it doesn't mean anything :(

and if he needs his passport to travel, he can go to the embassy and pick it up.

Your best bet is waiting for the consulate to email you back, they are pretty quick in about 3 days! They are the 1 to tell you exactly why. I was never put in ap or ar they just finished processing the case 3 weeks later but never on the site nor when I called will they tell me it was on ap they will tell me the officer is working on it still. Just like Reese said I don't think everyone gets pyt on ap because there are ppl who literally get their visas in a couple of days. I believe every case is different and it depends on the officer working on it. If your hubby has a common name background takes longer because his name is in the system, if is a returned case like mine it takes a little longer to finish process since they have to remove from they system all

The notes from the previous case is what the co told me and she also told me it would take 2-4 weeks at the interview, and also if the consular is behind in their work that's seems to be happening here in sdo. Well mama keeps us updated and best of luck I will

Have u in my prayers.

We are also going through AP now its 2 months cray5ol.gif I call DOS every other day and now they answer too fast with no information at all. We keep emailing the embassy. No one will ever tell you anything cray5ol.gif They keep repeating to us too that they are determining his visa eligibility and are waiting on the Embassy but its just their current phrase to give everyone calling them.
