I just rec'd my hard copy of the NOA2, and I am under the impression, from the California Center, it is supposed to be sent to the NVC...yet on my copy it states" The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance"....etc....So does this mean everything is being sent to the Consulate in Russia or what?

Any clarification greatly appreciated:)

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I have received the same notice. Did your have a priority date? Mine was blank?

Priority dates are of no consequence for K-1 visas.

Well at least we have received our NOA2. What do we do now?

:guides: In particular, the K-1 Flowchart can be quite informative.

Good luck.

Congrats!!!

Yep, government-speak can sometimes be difficult to interpret. Get acquainted with it, you will be seeing quite a bit of it on your immigration journey. dry.png

All petition clear through NVC before going to the respective consulate. Takes on average 7-10 business days once NVC has it before being forwarded.

Priority Date = The RECEIVED DATE that is noted on the NOA1

Priority dates are of no consequence for K-1 visas.

Good luck.

PRIORITY DATE is asked for during the K-1 process at the embassy, so for you to say its of no consequence isn't true.

From here on you will deal with the consulate/embassy. I guess Moscow. She will get her packet 3 ( a list of docs needed for the interview,) in a few weeks. Your almost there. Maybe this summer you will be rafting down the Snake river ! (FYI. even as a native New Yorker, I loved Idaho)

Small world!!!! I loved your comment, thank you:) Funny thing about the Snake river...You cross it over and over almost every where you go...and of course it offers so much recreation throughout Idaho, because it can be rushing through a canyon at one point, then a calm lazy flow through the valley. If your ever back, hope to hear from you!:)

Sorry Hank, I may have misunderstood this link from the Guangzhou US consulate, that since the K-1 visa is a non-numerically limited visa thereby obviating the need for a priority date.

Ok just got off the phone with the NVC and thought I'd let you guys know...my noa2 notice date was june 6, but today I received my hard copy. After giving them my case number, they told me it was not in the system yet (as expected) and that I should wait 15 business days before calling back to see if they received it and then 10 more business days to call back and see if they had entered it into their system and sent it to the Moscow consulate. 15 business days is 3-4 weeks, so I will probably call back before then anyway.
