Ok so I have a whoooole pile of questions I've been dying to ask someone (it's been next to impossible to get ahold of reps on the phone)

Alot of these have to do with packet 3 I received after our NoA2 arrived:

1) I've heard it's possible to extend the NOA2 application expiry date but haven't found a direct answer, how do you do this?

2)For for DS-156 #29 (previous visits to the US), I know the months but I don't know the specific dates. I don't have anything stamped in my passport or any physical record I can reference. Do I need the actual day I arrived/departed?

3)The checklist for packet 3 asks for adoption records - I assume this isn't just for children if I had any, I require it for myself if I was adopted?

4)Form DS-156K asks for documents to be attached - are those separate from the documents reuqsted on the packet 3 checklist?

5)My local police office is a pain in the butt and I can't get a hold of them, but is it possible to get my background check from Canada even if I'm currently in the US?

6)Due to an unforseeable situation that happened back home, I no longer have a place to stay. I've been in the US over 6months during my K-1 application and I heard about an unlawful presence in the US waiver. Would that apply to my situation so I can keep applying for the visa while I'm in the US? If so, where can I go for information on this?

I know alot of this I could find around eventually but I'm running out of time on my NOA2 and not being able to reach officials on the phone/through email is making me depserate. If you have any information on any of my questions, I'd be happy to have it smile.png

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Canada regional subforum, for country-specific advice and probably answers to the general questions as well.. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

1) assuming you're just worried about your interview date being after the NOA2 expiry date, you don't have to do anything; it's automatically extended. So long as you don't wait a whole year or something before moving forward with your case, you should be fine.

4) you do not attach those documents. The birth certificate, police certificate, etc. you bring to the interview with you. Packet 3 just includes the listed forms, 2 american style passport photos, and a photocopy of the biographic info page of your passport.

I'm not sure about your other questions, hopefully someone else more knowledgeable than me can help you with that. Overstays are a big no-no though (which is generally 180+ days) :/

They do it automatically for you, but if you need longer make sure to contact them and tell them.

2)For for DS-156 #29 (previous visits to the US), I know the months but I don't know the specific dates. I don't have anything stamped in my passport or any physical record I can reference. Do I need the actual day I arrived/departed?

No, give as best information as you can.

3)The checklist for packet 3 asks for adoption records - I assume this isn't just for children if I had any, I require it for myself if I was adopted?

If you were adopted you may not need it, if your adoptive parents are listed on your birth certificate as your parents.

4)Form DS-156K asks for documents to be attached - are those separate from the documents reuqsted on the packet 3 checklist?

Do not attach follow the guide pinned in the Canada forums and send what they say to send.

5)My local police office is a pain in the butt and I can't get a hold of them, but is it possible to get my background check from Canada even if I'm currently in the US?

Too late, it will take many months to get one if you try to apply outside of Canada. Go in person and get it done quickly.

You are not an immediate relative of a US citizen who entered without inspection, this waiver does not apply to you. You should NOT overstay and need to leave ASAP.

I know alot of this I could find around eventually but I'm running out of time on my NOA2 and not being able to reach officials on the phone/through email is making me depserate. If you have any information on any of my questions, I'd be happy to have it smile.png
