We got the California State ID card and it's good until 2019 which surprised me as I thought everything I've read said it would expire on the same date as the GC. Not that I'm complaining. But seems weird that you could be walking around with an expired GC for years and still have a valid government ID. But then again it is California.

As I mentioned before last week I went to try to apply for my SSN. At the office they told me I could not apply because of the government shutdown. I'm so mad. I waited for so long for this and now I have to wait even longer. I know it hopefully will be only a few days, but come on! I am so close... And no SSN means no ID and no official job yet. It is quite frustrating.

I can imagine how frustrating that would be. Luckily I applied for my social security card with my EAD before the whole shutdown thing happened. But now I have to wait to get the DHS authorization restriction off...ugh, hang in there!

Since my interview last Sept 12, my status has now been changed to "Card production". What a relief!! I thought I was gonna be denied because my interview wasnt really that pleasant as compared to what I have read here. My interview took almost 2 hours. The interviewer asked gazillion of questions separately b/w me and my husband. The interviewer asked in detail the pictures that we brought. All about what we have done for the past 2 weeks in detail and even very intimate questions. It was so mentally tiring. So in the end, the interviewer said that they need to do a background check because there were a few inconsistencies with our answers. Even threatened my husband if they would detect any fraudulent stuff with our marriage, he has to face the consequences. So fine, whatever.

My advice to everyone who hasnt been interviewed is, be prepared. Always expect for the worst. If you know that your marriage was made in good faith, you have nothing to worry about. I have been in and out of this country since I was a kid. So perhaps they have figured that if I would have wanted to stay here before for good, I should have done that eons ago. I am just so relieved.

@olsan

If I were you, I would call to verify that it was only a typo error. You would have a difficult time if your greencard wont match your other IDs.

Congrats Triz, what an agony it must have been for you all this time. I'm glad it all turn out good and you were approved. Probably it took even longer due to the Government Shut down.
