Hi guys hopefully u can help me. I applied for my ssn number on Tuesday. Today I had a situation, during a job interview they literally stopped it when they discovered I did not yet have my ssn. I tried to explain tht I am uthorozed to work and my card was on the way. I really need this job. I heard u can get the number before the card arrives, n e tips how I can get the num??

Whn I applied for my ssn on Tuesay, I asked about coming back to get the number in a cpl days they said" no u cant do that" so im really scared to go back tom, but I Really Need This Job and was doing great in the interview before the ssn came up. I wrlcome ur tips on how to get my number thanks :)

typically, go back 'next business day' and get the number.

they won't give you the card, but they will give you the number.

IMO, you got a nice brain-dead SSA employee.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks for the quick response Darnell, I told my husband hunny my friends at vj have said its possible.

At the front whn they ask why im there should I just say im there to get my number? Just trying to avoid the clueless stare from security thanks.

When I tried to do that 2 years ago, got denied as well. At some offices they just say no.

Guys, great news!!! Went back to ss office, told im there for a new application. Thankfully I got a different officer and she was very helpful and gave me the print out with the number. So i went back and completed my interview.

Thanks a lot Everybody and Especially Darnell. So happy :)

Each SSA office is different, I wish training was standardized for what the desk clerks are to be trained on.
