Simple enough. That is exactly what onehourtranslation.com offered when I inquired about a certified translation.

So, anyway, the only documents we need to get translated now for AOS later are the birth certificates?

Yeah she PM'ed me yesterday. Good news. I still don't know why Singapore wouldn't just send it to her directly, but oh well, it all worked out.

The story they told is a joke but at least they found it. I find it hard to believe it was just simply laying there in the mail room and no one could find it. That just is not how docs are transferred embassy to embassy.

It sounded to me like it went from the Singapore police to the embassy in BKK. I didn't realize it went from the Embassy in Singapore to BKK.

I probably got it wrong then. I didnt go back and re- read her message. Still the duty officer explained the procedure they use to my husband which should have made sure it wasn't " lost'.

We used what Ning posted for Pui's AOS for the certified translation. I swear when we sent the AOS documents we sent a copy of her birth certificate and the certified translation. We got an RFE for the bith certificate so we did a new copy of certified translation and sent another copy of birth certificate, then we had no problem. The only documents we have had to translate are the birth certificate and her brother's death certificate when we made an info pass for the emergancy AP. We did not use any agency or website to translate.

Edit: We never had to do anything with the House registration book.

Sorry for the misinterpretation that the review could lead you to, so I have corrected it in the review. I was asked for House registration at the counter where we gave out all the required documents, but when I said I was not told to bring it, the lady did not say anything. I guess the ID and birth certificate should be sufficient.

About the police certificate, it is Singapore police's policy to send from the Singapore police office to the embassy and the embassy knew of that.

However, only because there was no indication of "Consular/IV section" written on the envelope so it was left sitting in the mail room.

I specifically mentioned this part in my cover letter for the police certifcate application but they somehow forgot to put it down once they sent it out.

Oh well, now it is found... so just a reminder to everyone, don't forget to put "CONS/IV section" in to the mailing addess...

For the translation, i did it myself with myself certified for it as Ning suggested the format in the earlier post.

If someone can read Thai, i think this link could provide a really helpful template of the birth certificate and other official documents

http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/form/1421/21818-ตัวอย่างการแปลเอกสารราชการต่าง-ๆ.html

There are several forms of birth certificate provided there so you have to know which form should match with the original birth certificate (written in the corner of original document)

http://www.consular.go.th/main/contents/images/text_editor/files/tor1-1.doc >> this is just one of the forms

When we were married, we used a translations business directly across the street from the embassy on the 2nd floor. I don't recall the name but my wife thought they were reasonable and quick.

May 28, 2013 - InfoPass at Dallas Field Office - Case assigned to an officer and now on her desk to be worked

June 01, 2013 - NOA2 for my wife but the kids had an RFE issued. (day 54 from NOA1)

June 01, 2013 - December 19, 2013 - Case "lost" at the Dallas Field Office
December 19, 2013 - mailed to NVC

Don't think you need to have the free to marry translated. That is just for the embassy in Bangkok.

The package 4 states:

MARITAL STATUS CERTIFICATE: Required if you have a child born out of wedlock, without
a registered the marriage. An example of this form can be downloaded from
issued by a legal authority (Amphur or Court).
So I assume a single person without children does not need the 'free to marry certificate', not even for the embassy, correct?

Right. That free to marry thing is if you are going to get married in Thailand. You need it to give to the Amphur there saying that you are free to marry there. I don't think you need to give the embassy anything stating that you are single for a K-1 though. I may be wrong though since I didn't go the fiancee visa route.

I just read a consulate review. The beneficiary was given a 221 for not having the house registration.

The only place i have seen it mentioned, is for the police report.

If we do need it, could somebody send me the name of the document in Thai so I can pass it along to my girlfriend and there is no confusing about what she needs to get.

Thanks

My wife just confirmed that the embassy did asked her to see the original family registration book and to also provide a copy. Thankfully, we was ready with both.
