DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A 4-year-old boy accidentally shot himself on Wednesday evening after finding a loaded gun at his grandfather’s house.

Police say the boy was visiting his grandfather’s house in the 8200 block of Campanella Drive when he discovered the gun underneath the pillow of his grandfather’s bedroom.

The boy shot himself in the shoulder. He was transported by CareFlite to Children’s Hospital in Dallas with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

The boy’s mother was in a separate bedroom inside the house attending to her infant child when the shooting occurred. The grandfather was in another area of the house.

Child abuse authorities are currently investigating the incident, though no charges have been filed at this time.

IMO, he should have put it away the instant he knew the mother and child were coming in for a visit.

Now you're just be radical. I was just gonna have the fetus get used to the firearm. Bullets would have been due post delivery.

Well, this is true. Depriving them of the bullets inside the womb may have the ugly side effect that they have mental issues. No easy answers, are there?
