My fiance and I just recieved an RFE, because they want primary evidence of us meeting in person. We originally sent 5 photos, many many emails and facebook messages, and they are saying they want primary evidence...He is from Michigan and I'm from Ottawa, Ontario. We travel by car only so perhaps we should send credit card bank statement and receipts of our gas bills? We dont have passport stamps, no hotel receipts (as we always stay in each other's family home when we visit), and no plane, train or bus tickets. They said they don't need more photos or telephone bills, as they don't want more proof of an on-going relationship but rather they want evidence of us meeting. Please make suggestions of what else we can include as primary evidence.

Call me stupid but isn't photos( u said u sent 5) evidence that you have met in person? It makes me angry how they seem over picky sometimes.we got a rfe online yesterday .I'm kind of thinking our hard copy is a going to say the same and we didn't have plane tickets, stamps etc at the time we sent our petion as my fiance was living in uk(same as me) I have since visited him once in california.so I'm hoping my one ticket and stamp would be enough.you could get friends or family to write letters too..?

Try sending bank/credit card statements from gas/anything you've done together/anytime you purchased anything where he is...

If you don't want them to see everything, print out your stuff, take a black sharpie/permanent marker and cross out things like account number, your account balances, non-related expenses and so on...and photocopy that (turn the contrast setting on the photocopier dark...and you'll be okay).

It sucks, it really does, but all said and done, we're at the mercy of someone else.

What a bunch of idiots. You shouldn't have gotten an RFE... they are probably used to seeing hotel receipts and airplane tickets, so they were looking for that. Since they didn't see it, they asked for an RFE... but if you ask me - those receipts and tickets are secondary evidence. Photos are primary...

For the I129f process, the petitioner has to prove with "primary" evidence that he/she has met the beneficiary in person. Pictures, emails, facebook messages are not considered "primary" evidence of meeting in person. They really can't confirm that the people in the pictures are who you say they are. If you don't have plane or train stubs to prove you two met in person, submit proof that you were in Canada like receipts, ATM withdawals with your name on it, bank statements showing transactions in Canada. You can also submit evidence that your fiancee came to US by submitting similar evidence. Good luck on your journey, you should be approved very soon!
