I know of a few Vjers who just went through there (JFK) this month and received the Temp Ead.

For those WITH the temp EADs...Id love to hear your experiences with getting temp employment. Does the fact that it's a temp EAD factor into whether you're turned away from some jobs? Has it been a nonissue? I don't know if I were an employer, how I'd feel about finally getting someone trained right and then have to let them go cos 90 days is up.

So far I've had no problems with it, saying that, I'm still unemployed! A lot of them don't even ask to see it, they're happy with the SSN... I'm hoping that my real EAD comes soon after my temp one expires, you never know, maybe it will come before...

I will let you know if I eventually get a job! Expecting a call back tomorrow..

Jum got one. You will get one if you go through JFK, it won't look like much, in fact, another VJ member had to tell me where to look for it. It is a small/barely legible pink stamp usually on the back of the white I-94 form, they don't always tell you "here is your EAD."

A lot of people on this board have had luck with temp agencies. Rey's field tends to have a lot of temporary jobs, so he's wanted to register with an IT temp agency to get a few consulting jobs before his 1-yr EAD shows up and he can look for something better and more longterm.

Temp agencies are a good idea.

I'm glad to hear that JFK is still issuing them - they better not stop before my fiance moves here! I'm lucky enough to live an hour away from JFK... my kinda luck would be that they would stop, like, a week before he moved here.

My (wife) came through JFK March 6th 2007 and was given the EAD stamp. So yes, JFK is still giving them out. In fact, she did not think to ask for it, and thought "Oh no! I didn't get it" when she called me from the airport, but when she got here and we looked at her documents there it was stamped across the bottom of her I-94!

It won't expire until July 2007 either. So it was longer than 90 days as well.

I wish everyone coming through JFK would continue to put updates! Most times the EAD stamp is added even when not requested.

If it's longer... are you sure you aren't reading it wrong? Dunno... if not, lucky you! Rey got his EAD at JFK (90 days though) on Feb 5
