Crossing border with baby, can she get citizenship at border?

I remember reading somewhere than babies born in us to a Canadian parent can get their citizenship paper at the border crossing? I've tried looking online but can't seem to find anything. Am I remembering wrong? Does anyone have experience with this?

My husband and I will be travelling by land across the border and I'm wondering if it's possible to get this done at the border instead of mailing in all the paperwork.

more info: I'm canadian, my daugher is 1 and was born in the us. This will be our first trip as a family. She has a us passport so we'll be fine either way at the border crossing.

I searched the Canadian Govt website and nothing that refers to an easier way for your baby.

Do I -wish-! It's frustrating to have that long 7 month wait (and counting) for the citizenship certificate I've heard bandied about, whereas the CRBA is 3 weeks.

She really doesn't need the citizenship certificate anytime soon unless you're wanting to get her a Canadian passport.

I wish we could. I still didn't get Alexis one it really isn't a big deal as Canada already recognizes her as Canadian as my place of birth is on her BC. Now if she needed a sin card or Canadian passport then yes we need to get it done asap.

Thanks everyone. I thought it was a long shot. She already has a US passport so there's no rush, I just thought if it was possible it would be good to get done on our trip there.

I have never heard of it being possible to get a citizenship document for a baby at the border. Canadian immigration would need to verify the information submitted with a request for proof of citizenship and that isn't something that the border authority would be able to do, especially on the spot. You will have to apply for her Proof of Citizenship document if you wish for her to do so. I know others have said not to bother, but I would. You never know when she might need that proof and it may be a lot more difficult to get it when there is a time crunch and deadline than there is now when you can afford to 'wait' the process out.
