Hello everyone. Just a basic question. I am planning on taking my husband to Canada for an extended weekend get away. He arrived here on April 5th and has received his 2 year conditional green card. My question is this....... Does he only need his green card to enter and exit Canada or does he also need to bring his Nigerian passport? Also is there a time when he can apply for a US passport?

Thank you for any help!!!!!

Your husband will travel based on his Nigerian passport until he becomes a USC, For most places this means he will need a visa even when you don't. Mexico and Canada have agreements about letting greencard holders in for short visits without requiring a visa ( that your husband would normally need ) as long as they meet certain requirements. Your husband can apply for USC 3 years after the resident since date on his GC assuming you stay married. Make sure he takes passport , GC proof of funds , If either of you have any arrest history be sure to check that you are admissable ( I had a friend denied because of a DUI )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
