My wife went to do her biometrics a month ago and we are waiting for her to get her permission. Upon receiving her permission can she start working right away? Also, what is the next thing to do after receiving the permission?

She needs her SSN. If she has that plus work permission she can work.

Does she have to wait till she gets the card? Or when she goes to the SS office can she ask for a the number to be able to start working and not have to wait for the physical card to show up?

Just the SSN number along with EAD card is enough. They should not need to see her actual SS card. It only takes 7-10 business days to receive anyway.

Hello everyone,

I just got my Employment Authorization card but I have run into a few questions;

• Could I start applying for jobs now that I have this? Or do I need to have my social card as well?
• Tomorrow I'm going to the social office and I wanna know what I need to say/bring there with me to get my temporary social? Also, why is it called a temporary social?
• Is it ok if I start working? Or do I have to wait until after my interview?

Any help to these questions will be greatly appreciated.

Look closer at I-9.

EAD is a "List A" document that establishes both identity and employment authorization. No need to show the social security card.

And there is a field in Section A to enter the employee's social security number, but the instructions make it clear that this is voluntary and optional unless the employer participates in E-Verify.

An employee does need to provide the social security number to the employer within a reasonable timeframe, so that taxes can be properly withheld, but it is not required merely to begin employment.
