Does USCIS contact writers of affidavits?

As part of my I-129f package, I submitted 3 signed letters from persons vouching for my relationship with my fiance and the fact that we had met within the past 2 years. Has anyone else submitted anything similar? I ask because I'm curious if USCIS will contact those people and ask to verify what they wrote. I'm trying to get any indication of when my case is being touched and I figure if any of them are contacted, that must mean I am getting close right?

They can contact them, but they probably won't. I'd think they only contact them if your file was otherwise suspicious.

It is possible, but unlikely. As TBone mentions, if anyone contacts, it is more likely to be the consulate, either just before or after your interview.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I guess I was really hoping that they would contact those people so I would at least know that my case is being worked on. Oh well, guess I'll just have to be surprised when the notice comes.
