I believe lots of "fears" from minorities are just that.

I have lots of tattoo's, half sleeved on both arms. In a tank top I suppose I have the "uniform" on of a former inmate. If I'm in a Caucasian area I'm closely watched, of course I totally get that.

But I haven't had anyone act on that fear, mainly because I don't return the vibe that I'm getting initially.

A young minority usually has not learned this trait yet and they get easily offended by the attention. I know because I meet them all the time and I was for a couple years a live in youth counselor for all flavors of convicted youth.

Its a double edge sword. If you return aggression it will most likely spiral out of control for both involved. Sadly, this is most likely the case with GZ and TM.

Please - I ask that those who want to post in this thread stay on topic and that topic specifically has to do with a judge making the claim that criminal behavior is innate among blacks and hispanics. If you agree with that preposition, then state your reasons, or if you refute it, state why.

It's page 3. Anything goes.

I thought I was on topic......

Well, then more specifically, yes you can look at trends all day but they don't mean anything unless you consider all variable. Are minorities in this country arrest more than whites? Yes. This statistic is not enough to consider the whole issue though. Distribution of wealth among ethnic groups in this country, as well as profiling and individual prejudices of police officers would have to be considered. Granted, I don't think police officers are as much prejudiced as conditioned. You see enough minorities committing crimes and its not long till you think its a culture/genetic thing.

I thought white males are a minority.

police officers have quotas. and so do jails. poor people are easy prey and don't have money to fight back in court.

working for a rich white dude has opened my eyes to exactly how easy it is to get out of trouble if you have the money to do so.

at the end of the day, getting caught is all that matters and poor people get caught more often and sentenced with severe harshness in comparison to the rich. minorities make up a larger percentage of the poor people in our country. minorities are predisposed to crime in that the game is rigged against them..

True that..... I freely admit when I get around young black males in the Thug uniform I get uneasy and nervous. Those guys are committing about 90% of the crime around here and killing and looting at epidemic porpotions.

riddle me this Marvin-- I had a older black E-9 next to me in line at a department store last night. You could tell he was just squared away as heck.I hada nice conversation with him and the black lady checking me out, who has a masters degree at works at Belk's part time. Both awesome people who i really enjoyed interacting with. The clerk hepled me pick out a very nice Koor watch for my wife.

So if my problem as with blacks then I would not distinguish between the two sets.

There is no riddle here. If I said you had a problem with blacks there would be. But you know just like I do, there are way too many folks that can't tell the difference.

And even though you should dress and act accordingly at all times, how many white people leave the house in hoodies and flip flops, yet are they judged the same? The color of one's skin can disable or enable a perceived notion. If you're white and commit some horrible crime, you're crazy. If you are a minority, we're born that way.

The problem with that "fear" is that in some cases it gets someone hurt or killed based on a percieved notion that they are a "threat". As you stated about TM and GZ, that is what "fear" gets you, we may never know what went down after the initial confrontation, but we do know that TM was walking home minding his own business before being followed by GZ saying he looked suspisious.

Also, take a look at how the police react to certain situations dealing with minorities and non-minorities. Earlier this year, there was a brawl with a few white folks, it was a mess, bones were broken and just chaos everywhere. Look at how it was handled: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/10/kun-and-clair-families-br_n_1661991.html

Now, take a look at this: http://www.theroot.com/buzz/how-i-knew-dehumanizing-stare-belonged-black-kid

There are plenty more where that came from.
