HELP!~ Interview scheduled but no civil documents

As directed by the NVC and all instructions for the DS230 form, we sent copies of original civil documents to the NVC with the understanding that they would then forward them to the Paris embassy...this is what we were told...because we were confused at how we had to BOTH send them to the NVC AND bring them with to the interview. These documents are required for the interview, but, as instructed by EVERY SINGLE DOCUMENT on the website and in all directions, it said to send originals to the NVC....So now, he doesn't have them to take with him...and here is what the letter says for the interview :

Please note that even though the applicant may have provided
the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the
original document to the visa interview.
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....what now?? This makes no sense! How could we have done both: send them, but keep them at the same time!???? He sent them in! we don't have original documents. The NVC has them! Please please please advise! If he assumes that what is written is correct, the NVC SHOULD be sending them to Paris so they're ALREADY THERE for his interview date....but why do all the directions say to bring them???!!! It's so confusing! Please help!

If you sent the originals to NVC, why don't you call NVC and confirm that your entire packet was forwarded to the embassy as its supposed to be? The written instructions are rarely tailored for one person and rather, they're stock instructions. So, I would advise you to confirm that your packet with the originals is at your embassy and then just bring copies of everything that was sent to the interview.

Hello eav123, Not sure if it will help, but as I'm sure I will be in the same situation as you are now, but in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I've been researching and this is what I've found on the NVC website:

"What happens to my documents?

You will receive the original documents at the time of the visa interview."

Yes I've read that too....but despite it saying that, every other document and set of directions instructs to TAKE CIVIL DOCUMENTS WITH YOU...which is 100% contradictory to what the original directions say to do. This is a glitch no doubt, in the process and is a huge source of anxiety and stress. It needs to be re-written in my opinion to reduce confusion. I'm so freaking stressed out about this becuase what if they don't send them? what if they're lost in the mail? He made copies, but only of certain things. I'm so stressed out I can't breathe.

I understand how you feel, try not to stress out that much. (Easier to say than to do, I know). Most of us are in similar situation. I really hope that someone who has already been through this stage clarify this point. Good luck =)

I have had the same concern so what we will do, wherever possible, is have two certified copies of the original, which I believe are acceptable evidence (for example, birth certificates, divorce decrees, marriage license, etc.). We will send the original (or certified copy) to NVC and take another with us to the interview.

Aside from taking the advice of other posters (call NVC) about all we can do is be flexible...and spend a few more $ on official stamps, copies, etc. :)

I see that message too. I see what marland post that they will return the originals that you submit from NVC also.

But what I do is let my wife get again original documents. like police clearance, marriage certificate and birth certificate.

Just to be sure.

I disregarded that note. The embassy in Lagos had all the documents and the legal documents such as the marriage license was returned at the end of the interview. However, I would have him go with copies of all paperwork.

I had that same doubt for a long time until I received my P4 package via email yesterday.

One part of it states as follows:

Visa Interview Requirements
THALITA LLANOS CUTRIM must bring the following to the visa interview:
* Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted
to the NVC
That being said, just make sure you bring copies of all the originals ( I scanned every civil document sent with the IV package ) to the interview and you should be fine.
Hope it helps,
Thalita

All of the documents you sent to the NVC will be sent to the embassy. I think the letter from the embassy is more confusing for people than helpful.
