From the end of Gary 'Guns Are My Obsession And I Don't Take A Dump Without One's' own posted article:

"Another brave boy also recently made news for his quick thinking during a home invasion.

In Detroit, when burglars forced their way into Jaden Kankas home, the 9-year-old heard the intruders talking to his mom and boyfriend in the front of the house. He sneaked out the one-story bedroom window and ran to a neighbor, who called the police.

The criminals were still in the home when police arrived and were quickly arrested.Another brave boy also recently made news for his quick thinking during a home invasion.

Gun Nut heresy right there. Getting help from the police!

Once again phones prove to be better protection than a firearm.

And if your child finds your phone in the house and plays with it, the worst thing that happens is you get a huge phone bill and not a headstone.

I'll never understand gun worship...its a device that shoots an indiscriminate lethal projectile, nothing more.

Try buying an ar15 in NY state..... Safe act says No......If you cannot buy a" common use " weapon (Perhaps 1 million in NY alone ) I would say you have taken away the right to own one. If I moved from say Virginia to NY State next week I could not bring an AR15 with me. That is an out right ban.

Please describe the "common uses" of an AR-15 as it pertains to the average Joe Homeowner.

To shoot in the air on the 4th? It's what the founding fathers intended isn't it?

Oh wait, its for home protection; where the rounds exit the intruder and kill innocent people in the home or up to 300 yards away.

What anyone is doing with AR15 can be a seperate topic but can one buy an AR15 in NY was the issue?

So blocking the certain type of weapon, regulating the size of magazine, blocking certain type of weapon just by how it looks is not a paranoia or conspiracy but political members of few states have taken it upto them to regulate these items based on their personal belief.

Bloomberg is out there all about anti guns but he himself needs a armed security detail when he travels to Bermuda - note even the police in bermuda is not armed but he still needs his armed security detail.

I'd rather not be around anyone with a rifle after we've had a few light beverages, thanks.

Also good conversation pieces: RealDolls. Seriously. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RealDoll

It is precedent that a) the people have an individual fundamental right to keep and bear arms for lawful purposes not dependent upon militia service, b) that holding has been incorporated to the states, and c) Justice Scalia (in the Heller holding) clarified what the U.S. v. Miller (1939) decision actually said.

Miller established a two-pronged test to define just what types of arms are subject to Second Amendment protection. It held that small arms "in common use" that "bear some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia" enjoy constitutional protection. Semiautomatic rifles and pistols meet both prongs of this test, hence they are proscribed from any government ban.

Does not get you to this:

BTW - you really should cite your sources.

All weapons should be confiscated and then everyone should be issued one .50 Cal bolt action weapon. Augmented with generous rounds of depleted uranium.

Then when someone decides to shoot, it would be more well thought out decision. Worst case scenario it would be entertaining on youtube.

It worked for the cold war, it could just be the answer. ;)

Yeah, some brain dead gun nut apparently did that this past New Year's Eve in St. Pete and injured a women that way. She was lucky that she got hit only in her arm. Could have been deadly. Of course, gun nuts are idiots without functioning brains, they are incapable of thinking of or owning up to the consequences of their insanity. That's why we call them nuts to begin with. They're all mentally ill. Which, by the way, is why they oppose universal background checks.

St. Pete woman hit by falling bullet says it could have killed her

Laurie Eberhardt used to teach kindergarten, so the damage an assault rifle can do has been fresh on her mind since the Sandy Hook school shootings.

When police told her the bullet pulled from her arm this morning looks like it came from an AK-47, the danger hit home.

"This has to stop," said Eberhard, 67, who was injured when the bullet apparently fell from the sky around midnight as she watched the fireworks show in downtown St. Petersburg.

"It was one of the most horrifying experiences of my life," Eberhardt said this afternoon, recuperating at her Beach Drive home where she lives with her husband Henry.

"I felt it was about a millimeter away from killing me."

Eberhardt was leaning against a balcony railing on the second floor of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, 11 Central Ave., when she felt something strike near her wrist on the pinky finger side.

She was watching the finale of two downtown fireworks shows New Year's Eve, which drew crowds of spectators to the Vinoy Basin.

St. Petersburg police reported no other injuries from falling bullets. Where the shot may have been fired has not been determined.

But police told Eberhardt it could have been miles away.
