I was reading the requirements on the CFO website . The passport must be valid about 6 months before date of travel . My fiancee has yet to obtain her passport . She had to wait nearly 6 months to get the SSS ID before she could apply for one . With recent elections and having to renew some papers . She will be going sometime next week . At best it would be about 3-4 months before her date of travel . Will this be a problem ?

A Philippine passport is valid for 5 years. So new passports will encounter no problems

The said requirement of CFO means that the passport should be valid for AT LEAST 6 more months from the time of application. The CFO certificate has no expiration too.

Example situation:

Travel date: December 2012

Passport Expiration: October 2012

You will not be allowed to travel anymore.

Thanks for the link.

I believe the CFO is mistaken. I believe a passport has to be valid for six months after the travel date, as per U.S. Embassy requirements.

In any case, I've never heard of anyone with a new passport being denied by the CFO.

I hope others will chime in.

You mis-read that, what is said is the passport must be valid for 6 months AFTER the travel date. With a new passport you have no issue as its valid for 5 years.
