Dear VJ freinds,

I read from others' post that when people go to their medical exam, the doctor will ask you to undress. What is more "horrifying" is that they will examine people's private place very closely. Is that true? So embarassing! ;)

I'm going to have my exam in Vancouver. Do you know if the doctors will do the same here? Can I ask for a female doctor when booking an appointment?

Thank you.

I had my med exam in Vancouver, it was a male doctor at that time (not sure if they have other clinics now). No in-depth exam, and there is a female nurse with me inside the room the whole time I had my exam. They also gave me a paper sheet to cover my whole body after I undressed, nothing "exposed"... :)

married in Vancouver, Canada

USCIS-free for 10 years !

Thank you all for your replies.

I have one more question regarding medical exam. Will the doctor let us know if we pass the exam or not? What if we don't pass the exam? Will we have a second chance or the whole K1 process is terminated? Thank you again.

I just had my medical exam on wednesday. There is still just the one office in vancouver... Ian Morgan, but that day it was a female doctor Dr. Langley. You kept your panties on she quickly goes over you, eyes, ears, mouth, chest, heart, abdomen and a breast exam. Had you take a few steps to make sure you were able to without difficulty and said all was good... Who knows what I will find out from that envelope when I have my interview though. Good luck... they only do it wednesdays you have to be there at 630 am and pay $275.00 canadian. Make sure you've had your tetnus shot in the last 10 years too.

I'm sure each doctor is different...however, I'm SURE that if there is anything wrong....such as your blood tests or chest x-ray come back with concerns the doctor will talk to you about it. They have a responsibility to tell you about it. The concerns on the blood tests are HIV and STD's. The chest x-ray, TB. If they found anything else from your chest x-ray, or for that matter concerns during your physical exam, they'd tell you about it. There are some medical conditions that might prevent you from entering the US without treatment, in which case you'd have to have that taken care of before a visa could be issued.

I had my physical exam, then went for my x-ray and blood work, and then had another appointment to review that information and have the rest of the paperwork completed.
