Hi All,

I want you all (Indians) to take a note about the new rule of check listed documents submission to VFS.

As you all know you must submit the documents within 10-15 days prior to interview. This is what you understand at first sight. But actually that means you must submit the documents in 10 - 15 working days.

It means you need to subtract all the holidays ( Saturday,Sunday and other VFS holidays).

If you are living close to VFS office then its best to go there and read the Notice which shows last dates of document submission for applicants according to their interview date. I didnt know this that you need to subtract the holidays but I was lucky the day I went was the last day I could submit them. But I felt very bad for all the people there ( There were more than 100 people who got late because of this misunderstanding and VFS didnt accept their documents)

I just wanted to make sure everybody on Visa journey reads and understands this and not lose their interview dates so I used Caps in Title.

Good luck. :reading:

We had the same thing happen...

But for Delhi, you can bring the docs with you to the embassy. The only thing that HAD to be done was to deposit the 365 rupee courier fee. In this case, missing the date was no big deal.

Thanks for the posting...and appreciate it.

I wonder did you also have to submit the medical report 10-15 days in advance ??

and also how abt the visa fee draft..(such as 200 or 380 $ depends!!!) also needs to submit in advance to VFS as well (or this just needs to carry to embassy at time of interview)

Thanks and good luck!!!

@ Gupt, Its good that in Delhi only VFS fee is mandatory to be paid in advance . Good luck.

@Raj

Thanks for appreciating :)

Actually I went there with all the documents according to my packet 4 check list. But for some reason they dont accept them all at VFS ( that;s what happened to me ).

They have a different checklist there...like when I asked about submission of medical reports they just took the smaller one ( They asked me to retain the X-ray reports ) and also they didnt accept the Demand draft of visa fees either. I asked many times as I wanted to submit documents according to the packet-4 I received.

So I am taking the X-ray reports ( which are very Big in size :P ) and the Demand draft for Visa fees and some other supportive documents.

Also I wonder if the X-ray reports get damages if the sealed envelope is made to get through airport baggage checks ? As you know security is very much boosted at Indian airports these days I wonder if they force me to open the sealed envelope or make it go through X-ray baggage checks.

I hope above info. maybe useful to you and other people.

Good luck :)

Caparijat:

Thanks for the response. Actually, dont worry abt that bog X-ray stuff....you just carry that at time of interview and that's it..either they would take it or return to you to keep with you...You DONT need to carry this to USA...all you need to carry to US is your visa on your passport...and for people who are applying for IV visa..they will give sealed envelope to carry which wont include this big X-ray thing at all..(I have done consular processing for Green card for myself way back in early 2000 in MUMBAI itself...so I had gone throu this ...only thing VFS didnot exist at that time!!!!) ....anyway, I called VFS today and they said dont worry abt submitting medical and visa draft..you can carry this at time of interview.........

Sam:

Pl. dont get confuse....You dont need to send any docs with yoru pack-3 except DS230 Part 1 form and pack-3 checklist and copy of applicant's passport (I just did that for my wife in Mumbai)...in pack-3, they just want to see that you have collected all the docs for interview and they are in your possession....(pl. go through instruction for pack-3...you know the link for mumbai as well:-)

Good luck to all.........-Raj

The medical results are NOT required to be submitted at the VFS.

Your window for a Dec 28 interview is Dec 6-13. Simple as can be!!!!

In fact, if going through Delhi, you do not even need submit anything at the VFS except the $365 rupee courier fee.

No-

1. Packet 3 is picked up or rec'd via mail.

2. Mail back DS-230 Part 1 and checklist to embassy.

3. Packet 4, includes interview letter, is mailed out or picked up.

4. Deposit docs at VFS 10-15 business days prior to interview.

5. Bring medical reports to interview.

Make sense?

Thank you folks, all of you, ((hugs)) for your information.

Without this forum I have no doubt I'd be screaming insane with this process by now. For some reason I can't get the Delhi embassy to acknowledge that my emails exist  but I sleep at night because of the help I get here. Thanks again.

14 July 05 - "wow! now THAT is a first kiss"

22 August 06 - "here we go, I129F for K1 to NSC today"

13 January 07 - "Visa in hand!!"

02 March 07 - Joy "I Do!" Judge "what about you?" Asha "Me Too!" Judge "OK then, you're married!!"

13 April 07 - "Uncle Sam, here's the papers."

21 June 07 - "application transferred to CSC, Yippie!"

@Raj,

Thanks for your reply and detailed help. :)

Good luck to all of you. ( and remember 10-15 days prior to interview are 10-15 WORKING days ( means Saturday, Sunday and other holidays are excluded)

I am repeating this because it was very sad thing to see MANY applicants losing their interview dates just because of miscommunication.:(

Caparijat:

Just curious, if someone missed to submit the docs within time..than loosing interview date means what they do to them ?? Do VFS reschedule thier interviewnext month....or what did they tell them to do ? contact embassy and reschedule interview ?? Just incase if you happen to know the answer ??

Thanks.

You are not the only one! My case was completely derailed because I couldn't get into contact with the New Delhi Embassy! I ended up saving the emails I sent (over and over) to them and have sent them in to with my refiled petition to show that I had tried to contact the Embassy.
