My case status has been updated and states that my i-130 has been mailed to the NVC today. Now when should I expect a case number from NVC? I was going to start calling in a few days. Thanks for any reply!

If you begin calling in that short of time you can expect to become worried that this case like many others is 'lost' . It isn't but it also hasn't had time to be entered into the system at NVC. Keep in mind that EVERY case passes thru NVC so there are thousands in the system just like yours. It will be weeks rather than days before you will have the NVC case number.

Thanks for replying. I understand that it can take a lot of time for the uscis to send the petition to the nvc. But I was approved an expedite of my I-130, then on top of that, an expedite to actually send the I-130 to the nvc. So within a week of being approved, it will be at the nvc. And you're saying it still takes weeks to get a case number even after arriving at the nvc? Thanks again.

Your original post doesn't indicate you being approved for expedite by USCIS. I don't know what the reaction is at NVC to a case if it is noted as an expedited case but they wont even know that until it is scanned into the system.

NVC is a totally separate entity from USCIS and I far as I know they do not normally communicate with each other unless there is a serious problem.

When my own case went into limbo my husband tried to find it with USCIS. They told us the same thing as you found. NVC took months to work on our case and during that time never could or would tell him they had the case. That was unusual but proved to us that one didn't work with the other. Even a U S Senators office couldn't get NVC to tell them if they had the case. My case took 408 days. Yours should be far less.

Right. I understand that they are different entities. And I know that once I get my NVC case number, that I'll have to request another expedite with NVC. I was just curious as to how long it would take to get that number after it arrived at NVC. It will probably arrive at NVC tomorrow or Friday.

Did you see the post yesterday from the women that had contacted NVC about the same thing? She said they told her it would be weeks before she would get a case number and I think they told her to call back in 30 days. That a pretty standard response. You may get lucky in your case.
