This is a little off topic of the thread...but the most stress I had yesterday was not in a store, but was at around 10pm when Sujeet and I were leaving my parents' house and were outside talking. They live near a 4 way stop. We heard loud tire screeching and turned and looked and saw/heard a mini van and car collide hard. I was freaked out. The car got so badly smashed, and it pushed the mini van backwards and it looked like the mini van was going to crash into a house. It finally stopped but I'm sure the airbag prevented the lady from controlling the car. My parents need to move away from this area!! Remember the drunk driver incident?

I immediately called 911 and even though I wasn't involved in the crash I felt like I was going to faint because it seriously looked like someone could have died in the accident. A horn was going afterwards and wasn't turning off and the lady at 911 asks me, 'is someone laying on the horn' (aka DEAD or badly injured), I said...'I'm almost afraid to look...' because I am a wimp and my flight instinct was acting strong. I didn't want to see a dead body. I was still down the block and walking towards it but by then there were like 15 others out of their houses. Amazingly every was able to walk out of their vehicles. :o The mini van was full of 2 women and 4 girls and the car had 2 young guys in it, who had run the stop sign. One person was taken in an ambulance but nothing serious, they didn't use the sirens when leaving.

Anyway...that was my black friday stress. I'm so thankful none of them died.

Glad everyone was ok, Christina. Seeing things like that always shake me up too.

We ended up participating in Black Friday too, even though we had no intentions to. We heard that the GPS system that we bought last week was on sale, so we went to Best Buy and asked to get the difference back. And they gave it to us! I was actually surprised that they did that. It's a good thing Wadi made me do it, because I'm usually too much of a scaredycat to even ask for something like that.

So we spent -$50 on Black Friday! :P

We went to walmart last night to buy a christmas tree and some decorations. I thought it might be hectic there all day, but it was pretty quiet when we went at around 7:30pm. I was relieved at the lack of a crowd. I guess the early shoppers were probably resting at home after getting up so early!

we bought a Christmas tree last night at Walmart  too.... We are going to go Dollar Tree today to buy decorations for it....

We also bought some Christmas presents yesterday too... Mainly gift cards  We got some cool restaurant gift cards for TGIF and Chilis etc...

I went to Target and got 800 thread count sheets for 60$. I also got my son some Spongebob sheets and a really soft Spongebob blanket. The cell phone I wanted to get for my grandpa was gone already but I was very surprised they gave me a raincheck for it. They had it 40$ for the Virgin Mobile Snapper phone. I was very happy about the raincheck. Then I went to Starbucks for a pumpkin spice latte. Yummy.

My black friday experience, my goodness.

My husband is really big on black friday, I had never paid any attention to it, even when I lived in the states before. Anywho, we drove straight back from thanksgiving dinner and went straight to comp usa, as they were having their big sale from 9-12 pm. so we arrived at 7 and waited in line till 9, we were 5th in line. my husband got the super cheap graphics card that he wanted and was very excited.

We then went straight from there to circuit city, and were the 29th and 30th people in line ( we know because we had to write our names on a list). So we sat in our camp chairs with our blankets and watched a movie on our portable dvd player until it ran out of batteries. Then from about midnight till 4 we tried to get some sleep. I drank 3 huge cups of coffee, not that they kept me awake but were helping keep me warm, it was FREEZING!! we managed to get some sleep. It was a nice night, people playing sports and chatting, handing out hot choc etc.

Come 4 am all the employees had showed up, so everyone put away their chairs and stood up in line. By this time there were over 500 people in line. Around 4:30 the employees came out to start handing out vouchers for the most popular items. By this time, we were about number 70 in line, but since the person at the beginning of the line had made a list of the first 30 people, the list was given to the employees and they read out our names and offered us the vouchers in order.

By the time they got to us there was only one voucher left and we were the last on the list. We didn't want it so they found someone who did. They then called all 30 people and seperated them from the rest of the line and let them into the store first. Barely first, but first none the less. So we went in and grabbed our desktop, tv and surround sound system, cheked out and left in no more than 20 minutes.

We left with a dual-processor desktop computer, 20" lcd monitor, printer, surround sound system, and 20" lcd tv, and two digital cameras for $950 when we add in all the rebates. So now we are all nice and ready to move into our new apartment! In fact the printer, and two digital cameras we got for free. They just gave them to us. So there you go, definitley worth the trip besides the cold.

So we left just as everyone was getting up and traffic was horrendous and we took the back roads to fredmyer were there were no lines and bought like half our christmas presents for so cheap!

got back to the house at 6:30 and my husband got up and went to work 3 hours later, such a trooper!!!

So as to black friday, i think it is definitley worth the all night staying up if want a fair amount of stuff or what you want is really discounted, I mean I felt like a thief when we left cos we had so much stuff. and it was quite alot of fun. We wouldnt have gone if wasnt that we were going to buy the stuff anyway and it was an opportunity to buy it really cheap. Also, we needed to get there as early as we did as the computer we bought there was only like 15 in stock and they were all gone in the first 20 minutes. If we had just showed up at 5 we would never have got it and would have had to pay full price which was over $1000.

sorry this was so long!

Ah, but the actual return rate on rebates is like 60%. :hehe:

The secret to the rebate is to send them in immediately. People wait and end up never sending them in because they misplace the receipt/UPC/etc..

My very first black friday...

I didnt really want to buy anything... but Rob wanted some gifts for his brothers (and snuck up my b'day gift too), got up at 5ish... and went to Lowes in Cranberry Twship (about half an hour), it wasnt too crowded, so we got two B&D drills for 35 dollars each (originally 90$) and a ladder (15 dollars) and some poinsettias (2 for 3 dollars). Then Target which was MADNESS, and he got me a camera for 98 dollars (originally 199) and a few other things, we did not have to wait long in line, because as Rob was making the line to pay the camera at the electronics counter, I grabbed a few other items for the house, and we were outta there before 7 am... Had breakfast and went back home...:)

Not too bad... at Lowes I know we did save around 150 dollars... at Target we saved 100 dollars or so. So I guess we did good. (I know, we might have been better off not buying anything...LOL)

My daughter BEGGED me to take her out... ... Shopping is not my forte.. much less Black Friday ..

SOooo got up at 415am .. scrambled out of the house.. pulled into Fred Meyer parkinglot lucky me... got a spot right infront of the door... ... time.. 445am.. Daughter and her friend sooo want to wait at the door.. about 7 people there .. (went to grocery entrance) main entrance door already had BIG LINE of 100 people or so.. ... hmmm wonder why.. we are all entering same time ... anyhow.. line quickly jumps.. .. the Manager.. comes to the door.. wow... 450am... starts to open the door.. whoo hooo.. bingo... we slide in... 5th in the door.. .. only thing we really wanted was.. the DVD's for $5. got the missing DVD's of HarryPotter and Sound of Music, Daughters choice, and for myself.. Notebook.. ready for a tearjerking night... ..

No need to fight the crowds for anything else... no need for socks.. at 50% off.. the'll be on sale again..

We wandered teh store.. lookielooing... .. amazed at what people are filling their carts with just cause its a sale... aughhh...

we leave.. and head to the Mall... My daughter had upgraded her phone the week earlier and was having trouble with it.. so in talking to a friend of mine who is a asstmgr for Verizon... was told to come down early on black friday to get a deal... .. hmmm wonder what new phone would be launched... . Got to mall.. just as the Verizon keosk opened up... I was told to talk to the head mgr due to some errors that were done to my acct and screwup on the new phones that we just purchased... .. The New phone... hmmm. Daughter ended up getting the new Chocolate.. but in green.. thus called the Mintchocolate phone.. LG8500... Mp3 and all looks like a lil mp3 player.. .. normally it should have cost me $79 more.. .. ended up getting the change no cost along with Bluetooth and charge packet for my MotorolaE815.. woo hoo... .. all in alll.. got $130 in product no cost.. .. ..

was it a black friday special .. or just mgr keeping a customer happy after a extremely unnecessary employee screwup. either way .. the phone just launched .. we got the first one sold at the store.. .. daughter is thrilled... .. Im happy.. ....

Happy Holidays to all..

We had so much fun on Friday! Got to the 24 hour Walmart at 5 a.m. We got a digital camera for $88 (originally almost $200!), a NICE vacuum for $40, a couple of memory disks for the digital camera for $12.99 a piece, a printer/copier/scanner for $28. We were so excited! Then we went to Kohl's which had the longest line I've ever seen, so we skipped out of there and went to Target. I got a Jensen alarm clock/Ipod player for $28. At Dillard's, we got a $240 piece of luggage for $60, with a $60 overnight bag thrown in for free.

All in all, we got some great deals and Amed now loves "Black Friday."
