How long for DOS to register packet 3 forms sent in?

Here is my scenario:

On 23rd May, they sent me a packet 3 letter. I filled out all the K1 forms, and then realised the letter they sent was the wrong one - the one for general immigrant visas only mentioning DS230.

On 28th May I sent in all the K1 forms any way - the DS2001 checklist, DS230 Part 1, DS156 (duplicate), DS157(duplicate) and DS156K.

On 29th at 7.45am they got received according to the online tracking as I paid for Special Delivery.

On the 31st May I got another letter from the embassy. I ran into the house to open it freaking out. However it was just the correct packet 3 letter - the one the embassy should have sent me the first time with the word "fiance" etc. It was dated 23rd like the first letter but the postmark indicated it we sent on the 30th. I was really worried as this was after my forms arrived, so I called DOS. They said my paperwork wasn't registered, but that that wasnt a problem as it takes a few days to process.

I called again today just now though and they still haven't got my documents recorded. They've had them 5 working days since the 29th at 7.45am. Is this normal? Im freaking out that something went wrong and I don't know what to do. I dont know if I should send them again or what. How long has it taken other people to find out from DOS that the forms you sent in got registered in the system? I've got a tight deadline to make so I just can't afford to put a foot wrong...

( I did just have my medical today. Is there any chance thats why this is happening? Has anyone ever had confirmation that the forms were there before their medical arrived there too?)

Hello,I have a similar issue to yours. I went through the DCF (London) and sent off my packet 3 last week right after my medical. The forms arrived according to the tracker on Friday and the doctor said the exams would arrive at the embassy on Monday. Last night I called the embassy (cant call DOS because I am going through DCF) and they confirmed they did receive my medical results but there is no information on the packet 3 forms because they won't be logged on the system until they have been processed. The guy then said it takes up to 6 weeks to process them and only then will they show up on the system. So #######!! Can't even check now if everything is fine. I am in a bit of a time constraint as well so I am really hoping it will take less than 6 months. Thereafter I can call again and get my interview date if I don't want to wait for the letter. Apparently London schedules the interview about 3 weeks from the date the Packet 3 is processed. Hope that helps! Keep me updated on what is going on for you, I would be interested how fast your packet 3 gets processed.

Oh BTW I am not sure where you sent your packet 3 forms - the embassy or NVC?

I wouldn't worry yet. My packet 3 forms were received by the Embassy on Friday 10 May but were not recorded as received until Monday 20 May.

What does it say about your case when you check it on the CEAC website?

Ok thanks! I had completely forgotten about CEAC satus until last night. It was filed away in my brain as "things to do with NVC stage" section of worries.

I checked it then and it still said 23rd May, the date my packet 3 was sent out. I check it today and it says updated date = 4th June! (The message is still "Ready", didn't change)

My medical was yesterday (4th) so I assume that there is no way that got delivered already and hence this means my forms got received? Although some people on here have been saying that the forms wouldnt go in until they get processed 4-6 weeks later. Still, I'm putting my freak out due to post-medical anti-climax.

I shall wait until next monday and then call to check to see if the medical results and forms are in there! I love VJ, I don't know what I would do without you guys to quash my ridiculous fears... Thanks for the reply :)

Remember to try phoning DOS first rather than the extortion line. As long as you have cheap calls to the US, that is. I phoned DOS yesterday to ask 'My staus was updated today. Can you tell me what happened to update it?' To be told I had been allocated an interview on 18 June.

Also, with the 4-6 weeks thing. Remember that the call center operators on the extortion line will always tell you something like ' 4 to 6 weeks' for everything. For instance, they told me on Monday that I wouldn't have an interview in time for me to make my wedding (12 July) but the very next day I was allocated an interview. Unfortunately, I had to phone them as I had to pay the MRV fee. As the calls are charged at £1.23 a minute, it can sometimes be cheaper to phone the equivalent US number for the London Embassy and pay the flat fee of $20 (thanks to Rob C for that tip).

And I love your Panic du Jour. For some reason you make me smile.

This ceac thing is so new we haven't sussed it out yet. Maybe the change of dates indicates somebody filed your forms, but they don't have many status choices so it still says ready.
