Best Airline & POE for a Thai

I posted a similar post in the open forum. Thought I would make a more specific post here. I have always flown Korean through Chicago. They are top notch IMHO. I also think they will at least make an effort to help my girlfriend. The US legacy carriers on the other hand can hardly be bothered to bring a drink.

I can get a connection to my home town from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis.

The biggest concern about Chicago is getting from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. Not a big deal I know but, after a 13 hour flight and the stress of clearing immigration it might be too much for her. She can't read English.

Minneapolis gets good reviews and the International arrival is in the same building as domestic departures. Additionally she can fly one airline all the way.

I've also thought about flying to the POE and flying home with her, but fares are about 1,000 for a one hour flight. Ridiculous. Driving from the POE is out because she gets car sick.

What do you guys think? What would be the easiest airline and POE for my girl friend?

Oh, also what day is best to arrive? I assume some days are better then others in regard to the immigration queue.

Is she flying by herself?

Yes flying alone. The nature of my company does not allow me to leave until December. I gave her the option wait until December and fly back with me or fly back in July alone. She chose alone.

I would go with any Asian airline. Chances are there will be other Thais. My wife had to go back to Thailand alone for a family emergency, and when she came back some Thais helped her with the forms and where to go.

Not sure if this is an option for you or not. If you can take the day off she arrives or if she arrives on a weekend fly to the airport she will have POE and meet her there and then fly back to your home together. If you do that make sure she knows the phone number to your cell phone. Give yourself plenty of time to find each other and check the luggage again.

Korean is the quickest trip and one of the top rated airlines in the world. It doesn't cost much more than flying a US domestic airline. I wouldn't want to fly any other from Thailand to the USA. They have several ports of entry too so you could pick the closest to you.

February 01, 2013 - Mailed I-130 for wife and step kids
February 04, 2013 - Delivered to Phoenix Lock Box

June 01, 2013 - NOA2 for my wife but the kids had an RFE issued. (day 54 from NOA1)

June 01, 2013 - December 19, 2013 - Case "lost" at the Dallas Field Office

This is good advise. I saw this take place and my husband said he also saw people that needed help attended to by airline people as well as fellow travelers.

it may be a good idea to send her an email with the transfer instructions in English so she could show it to someone when asking for help.

I was thinking about this since Gigi will be comming soon. I am sending her Delta since that is the flight I took twice now and I can walk her though Narita and portland with my eyes closed. That and Narita has AC again last I checked.

I would say use the airline you feel yourself comfy flying and have done yourself. That gives you experiance to help your SO get to where you are.

I would figure out a way to go and get her. 'nature of your family' should take precedence, unless your work is life and death, like you are deployed to Iraq

You would have been wrong. She has been here for weeks now and had no problem traveling ect.

Wrong for me? I'm sure my wife can make it on her own, just seems like such a big deal for her to come to America the first time that I would want to be there with her.

Everybody is different. Jin made the trip with no problems. She actually ended up helping other Thais with the the transfers. She had never traveled by air before so I was concerned, but it all worked out.

No. I assume you are responding to the O Ps questions.

"What do you guys think? What would be the easiest airline and POE for my girl friend "? He is talking about his fiancé.

Your response makes no sense in the right context because by the time you responded she was already here.

However if you think you need to go get your wife then that must be the right thing to do for you.
