Freaking out about my RFE

Right. So my fiancee express mails her letter to me, I put it in an envelope with mine and express mail them to my mom in the US, who express mails it to UC-CIS. I feel like that eats up a lot of time, and makes it far more likely for something to get lost along the way.

This is why this process is not for the impatient.

When we first started the process, my then fiancée sent me the forms that I needed her with original signatures. When I received them I saw that things were wrong, even though I specifically said they must a certain way. Well, that was a fight, and then I had to supervise every single form she sent me. Took us another two weeks for every thing to arrive. That was not fun.

The hard copy of our RFE just arrived at my dad's house. He scanned it and sent it to me, so they'd know what they're looking for.

I knew they'd ask for "Intent to Marry." When I realized that was missing, my fiancee and I got those ready.

What I wasn't expecting was for them to ask for evidence that she and I have met in the past two years. Our initial packet included photos of us together (with the dates, locations, and names of other people in the photo written on the back), affidavits from friends and family describing our history (including the fact that we lived together for a year), and email correspondence between us. I'm not sure what else there is.

I don't think I have any plane receipts left anymore. If I dig out email confirmations of the purchases, will that be enough? Will scans of my Chinese visas work? They're work visas and don't technically prove that she and I were in the same city...

Any other things you think we might be able to include?

I sent copies of my plane reservations from my email and also copies of entry and exit stamps on my passport . I sent copies of my hotel reservation by email also . This was enough , they never asked for further information

@Grace and Irfan...thanks for reminding me about hotel reservations. I use Agoda for all of my hotel reservations, they have nice printed vouchers that I can print and include in our mountain of evidence. Many times the bill is not legible (I saved them) or they don't give you a bill (if you pre-pay on Agoda).

Copies of evidence of meeting in person in fine. Copies of intent to marry are not acceptable! The intent to marry must have original signatures.

This is not true i sent A Copy that my fiance sent me via email and was approved right away total day from noa1 to noa2 was 81 days

you submitted lots of stuff and they be asking for this? I'd be on the phone, with an ISO, requesting that the reviewer find the stuff in the packet, as it's all in there.

I hate going guerilla, but since the two of you live together, take a photo of the two of you holding a newspaper showing the date, in the doorway of yer abode.

That won't work now; they must show that, as of the date the I-129F was filed, they had met at least once in the preceding two years.

I can't really give advice but just want to throw out my sympathy since husband and I spent first two and a half years of our married life living and working in China -not really possible to prove in ANY WAY that we were in the same city. We were always flying out and in separate, leases only in his name, utilities in landlord's name, no bank accounts at all let along joint ones.

I think you should try hard to find that old passport and send in every stamp you can find.

Did you have any animals? a lawyer advised me that pictures of our two chinese rescue cats with us in the pictures from when they were babies would help, since we also could include copies of their kitty passports from when we moved them to the US.

Feeling your pain. I'm also expecting RFEs and am not sure how we will deal with it.

While it is true that some people do get approved with just a copy, an original signature IS required and not everyone is as lucky as you. Since the OP is responding to an RFE, I would not suggest using a copy in place of an original signature.

Plus the fact that you got approved through VSC in only 81 days when there are other people who are still waiting 200+ (i'm not even talking about people who have gotten an RFE) means you were lucky...

Yes it was lucky but I sent the Copy as a response to an RFE requesting her letter of intent

Yes it was lucky but I sent the Copy as a response to an RFE requesting her letter of intent As A matter of fact I do not have the RFE with me for exact wording because she has all the copy to take to her interview . but i do remember the last paragraph stating a Copy would be ok. So please read the last part of your RFE Best Of Luck

I am glad it worked out for you, but I still would not advise someone to send in a copy only. They might not be lucky enough to get an adjudicator that would overlook the fact that there is no original signature.

Seriously? That's... very inconvenient. The other evidence is all photocopies, why must the letter of intent be original? She'll have the original at the interview.

Just got the same letter as your my friend. It requesting a Original signed and datd copy. The one I sent was a copy and no date. So I already have that being shipped express from Mexico.

Meeting in the past 2 years well I did I have my tickets and itinerary for 2 years. And pictures are already set just now need the dam original sign and dated letter of intent from her. They should of told me while I was in Mexico last week. And now I have to wait a week

And thank you for posting as an example that you can indeed get an RFE for an original signature if you send a copy only.
