Brace yourself for wanna be cops accosting people then killing them knowing that they'll walk free.

You don't know what happened. Keep in mind.... If you feel that your life is in danger, you are allowed to defend yourself using any means necessary.

not quite that simple. keep in mind, gz wasn't minding his own business when he was viciously attacked. he was unofficially on duty and in the midst of a hunt, as the self appointed neighborhood vigilante.

Is it self defense if you're the reason you're in danger?

It's interesting, GZ's mom says his background is clearly Afro-Peruvian.

I wonder when or if the African American population will recognize this, and stand-down from any pointed 'backlashing' ?

It would be nice if everyone was colorblind over this, but I just don't think it will happen, namely because many don't believe GZ was. Edited by Leon & Mylen

being colorblind would be counterproductive, considering the issue of gz's profiling.

Yeah that's what many believe and is the reason I think there will be a backlash. Heck, there already has been a backlash.

Sorry for the double post, as I quoted the wrong response by Darnall.

No worries, there really is no right post by Darnell, he's a free spirit.

It can be, but only if you at least make an attempt to withdraw. The real question: Who was the person in danger, and entitled to self-defense -- The one that was walking through a public area on the way to his destination, or the one who "forgot" he had a gun, that wanted to follow an unknown prowler into an unfamiliar area during conditions of poor visibility, into a poorly illuminated area, armed, he "thought", only with a flashlight with dead batteries?

I am so waiting on the million man march in Sanford, Florida, this month.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The less-black guy is always the one is danger. This is America, it's in our Constitution, look it up.

If blacks rioted upon every legal wrong done to them we'd be burning continually.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Oh, but we are.

This reminds me of something. Many years ago, my freshman year in college, I had just returned to the US after a bit less than a decade. I had a work-study job at the local library. My coworker was this older guy. He looked white but he had dreads and always dressed rasta and spoke with what I believed was some kind of island accent. He spoke slowly and always let the ends of his sentences linger on forever. "Hey, man" was "Hey, mannnnnnn". So anyway. He was majoring in African-American studies which I recall thinking of at the time as a bullsh1t major. He always had a ton of questions about India and liked to tell me how important my experience was and how sad it is that the "white mans media" never talked about me. It was confusing to me, why would any media talk about me or my experiences? But anyway, the real reason this conversation reminded me of him... one day we're talking and he said something about not using banks and hoarding metals at home as a store of value. And I said that's typically something people only do during wartime or when war is imminent and his response was, "you don't think there's a war going on out there, right now?" I looked to my left (towards the window) and said "no....". And he said "they fooled you, mannnnnn".
