Quick Questions: AOS for STEP-CHILD

This is the USC. My husband (LPR) and I are doing paperwork for my step daughter (his daughter from earlier marriage). She was brought into the US at age 6 and just recently turned 18 and has graduated from High School.

We have some questions and hope we can get some answers from members of this forum as we work on the forms.

Our first question is on the I-130 Section D Question 2. Our answer to this question is obviously 'Yes' but we are uncertain about what 'Place and Date of Fililng' to put after the 'Yes'

Is place the nearest USCIS office where we went for interview or the Chicago Lock Box or the city where we live? And date, is it the date that is on our application forms or the date we went for interview or the date that appears on his green card?

The original date and location you filed your I-130 for your husband.

They don't want the nearest place or where you live. They want the location you filed your papers to.

They want the date you filed them not the date you interviewed. Then they want the outcome, what happened, LPR status or denied etc.

Thank you Inky. Just to confirm...

We are holding a copy of my I-130 for my husband. Section F (Signature of Petitioner) there is a date there when I signed that form. This is the date to indicate, right?

We filed to the Chicago Lock Box. Just again confirming this is what we should indicate?

We are a little more confused now about this date. The date we mailed the package is not the date that I signed the I-130. The date that appears on the I-130 next to my signature is is Feb 22 and we mailed the next day. Also, none of these two dates appears on the NOA for the I-130. So we have 3 dates here: Date next to my signature on the I-130, Date we mailed the package, and Date on the NOA. The three are different.

I had to complete the same section, for the DATE, I used the received date from my NOA1, as for the place I provided the city of where I lived during the application process (I see now from a post here this might be wrong). Good Luck.

K1 - Filed March 2011

- Denied March 13, 2012

- Placed in AP March 14,2012

- Sent back to USCIS November 2012

- Expired March 2013

WASTED A YEAR FIGHTING THE DENIEL

MARRIED MARCH 15, 2013

1-130 Approved 3/3/2014 :-)

Finally made it home 3/18/2014

We put the date taken from the NOA [of when the i130 was received.] For the place, we put the lockbox were we sent hubby's petition. We also provided the MSC number. Our answer on this line looked like this:

Husband - John Doe Guy, Chicago Lockbox, MSCxxxxxxxxxx mm/ddyyyy. LPR APPROVED mm/dd/yyyy

We mailed the package today.
