What is my status?

I have applied for Adjustment of Status from a K-1 visa. The AOS has not gone through yet, but I do have an EAD/AP card. I've applied for a loan and the bank wants to know my status. What is my status now? And what will my status be when my AOS is approved?

Your status now is nothing... technically you could call it "AOS pending" but I doubt that's a box on your form. You are legally present but in an unusual sort of non-category.

Once you get a GC you will be a "permanent resident."

For now choose whatever box fits best, maybe non-resident... what are the options?

That's what I thought. I'm kind of in a no-man's land at the moment. I'm going to choose non-resident and put out to the side "in legal status-adjustment of status pending". I don't think it will be an issue anyway, but I'll explain all that to the lender when he interviews me. I applied for AOS in September and thought I'd have heard something by now. But I haven't. I called USCIS on May 28th and they agreed that I am past the processing date and told me to call back in 15 days if I haven't heard anything.
