noahsmama -

cool !

things have changed up since 19 March 2013 for scheduling and how to schedule.

The applicant has an option ( mandatory for some) of registering online and setting up the appointment date their own selves.

china portal, in english -> http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/index.html?firstTime=No

china portal, in chinese -> http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn_zh/index.html

So, instead of waiting on packet 4, since Mom is now eligible for an interview (the casefile is opened, GUZ IV has logged the casefile)

you could try

to set up an appointment for her, online.

Give it a try, let us know whats what ? If things are working at the ustraveldocs site, then YOU can choose the appointment date. Once the appointment date is set - the appointment letter is downloadable from there (and that's really all the packet 4 is, the appointment letter)

Good Luck, and Go Get Em !

Yup, it's all done on the same day now - changed up on or about 19 March 2013.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

That doesn't work for Guangzhou IV.

Most of the rest of the IV Units across the world, NVC sets the interview date.

Guangzhou has optional electronic processing, and when one OPTS IN to EP, NVC sets the appointment.

The OP did not opt in to EP at NVC, and had to suffer the wait of the casefile transfer into Guangzhou IV. Guangzhou IV themownselves schedules paper casefiles once the casefile is opened at the IV unit.

It's a PITA, to be certain, but since ustraveldocs is handling MOST of the stuff now for NON-EP Immigrant Casefiles instead of the IV Unit, the OP has yet another portal to muck about with, for scheduling. Sorta cool, no waiting on GUZ IV to do the scheduling them own selves.

However - with a papercasefile - it's still best to call DoS Hotline and inquire for casefile status. (hint hint)
