Finally received case number from Dos after waiting 5 weeks!! How do i know when it is sent to the embassy?

Go to http://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw== and enter your number there. That should work.

Just our of curiosity, how were you notified when NVC got your case? Do they send you an e-mail or a letter at home?

I'm a bit confused regarding what's going to happen next...

I literally called everyday. They received it in about a week even though they told me it would take up to 8 weeks. A week later I called and the consulate had already received our petition. I received a letter from NVC telling me they had sent our petition to the consulate around this time.

So if I start calling my consulate in here in, let's say a couple of weeks, then I should be ok?

NVC = local embassy, right?

The NVC is not the local consulate. The NVC will send your petition to your local consulate. You should first find out if the NVC has received your case, if you haven't done so already.

Thank you for letting me know and sorry for the silly question.

No problem at all and it's not a silly question. I didn't know the answer to these questions at one point as well. Good luck.
