I actually found it the least pleasant going back INTO Canada than going to the States last month, the customs man I got going into the States was really nice (slightly flirty?), and when I was coming back I was glad I got this young, nice looking fellow, & I thought..oh he's young, I shall work my charm. I don't think he so much as cracked a smile the whole time haha. So..it all depends I guess! Let's all hope we (or our fiances) get nice people when we or they enter the States on the K1 visa!

Agreed, that really sucks :( we Canadians have it pretty lucky with the visa waiver program thingy. I dunno I know I've gotten lucky, I've heard other tales of singles lasses getting the Spanish Inquisition when they cross...

And amen to that kc!!

I was denied at the border about 2 months ago. it was pretty traumatizing at the time but you can go back as long as you show proof of ties and a return ticket. The only really bad thing is you will be brought into secondary inspection every time since you have been flagged.

They were very nice too me and they searched my things- I had nothing to hide. I've been going back and forth to the states for years and never had an issue. The guards were very nice and recommended that we do the k1 process since we have been together for so long.

Though my crossings have been at Calgary international airport (they have a us customs pre clearance thing - makes it nice when I get to San Diego can just hop off the plane and go see my hun!), driving going down was Piegan (quiet crossing), coming up was sweetgrass.

I've not done the land crossings enough to rack up bad experiences I guess.

Yeah mine have always been at Halifax international airport, they do the pre clearance customs thing too. Which I love, then you don't have to worry about it, because it's all done with! I've never had a bad experience.

Though when I was 17 I went to Florida with my friend for spring break, and we had no idea you had to be 18 to fly without written parent consent, so the customs lady told us we had to have written notice..and we were like ..oh we didn't know..so she called our parents and was like 'they could be kidnapped and some man could steal them and make them into prostitutes!'..I think she was really bored, after all that she was all smiley and like..'have a nice trip!!'.

Haha that's funny.

I just remember I think it was my second trip I got the "where do you live, what do you do?" grilling to establish ties I guess.

And there was one trip back..."did you buy anything while you were down there?" "About $200 worth of hair product". The customs lady looked at me funny.."it's the good stuff that's harder to find up here, for my friend who was watching my dog!!!" She laughed...

The customs people coming back into YYC are pretty awesome. One commented to me he was in a neighboring town so I was grilling him on road conditions lol. There was one when Jesse came to visit and when they found out where he was staying (I live in a tiny village) really? You realize there's NOTHING THERE...lol

Haha the grilling is always fun! I'm hoping we all get our NOA2 quickly, then can start working on the next steps! Then I won't have to think about another trip after he comes to visit in August, Instead we can just focus on getting all this done!

Lol well it's my turn to go next but I'm kinda holding back waiting to see what happens with the house and getting my financials a bit happier.

...so it may be a while before I make it down there. :( thinking at the latest I'll go down over our turkey break. That way I can spread it out enough and spend my bday down there too ;)

Though who knows. We may end up with our noa2 around then, if the timeline stays semi accurate. Hard to say though, it is government.

Would be awesome but. You can't really predict.

If people keep getting approved as quick as they have been then maybe we will! I am trying not to get my hopes up..because anything could happen. But I can't help but hope we will be one of the lucky ones with the quick approval! All we can do is wait and see..

That's true. But I mean even with the noa2, there's still however long to get the interview at the embassy...medical...whatever else.

Hey everyone. I just found this website and it seems like a great community for K1 visas. My fiance and I are just waiting to get our NOA1 in the mail. Should get it in the mail this week! Its nice to see so many Canadians on here. Anyone else from Nova Scotia?
