I totally understand what you mean! People keep asking me when the wedding date is too & when I answer "not sure yet" they always give me a confused look. Then I'm forced to go into the whole fiance visa petition thing, which nobody understands anyway! Lol.. . Nothing about this process is easy..

Haha exactly! Everyone thinks I must be moving right now, then I try to explain the whole interview thing, and that we have to get married within 90 days, etc etc.. and they are like.. it's only the States.. they don't understand that it's just the way it works!

People are completely shocked when I explain to them about the process to legally enter the US.. They think because I have a foreign fiance that somehow the US would make it easier for us. They don't realize they don't care about all that. Literally thier jaws drop to the floor.. Thats why I love this website because u meet people who completely und what ur going through, cus nobody else does!

No. Lol that's why Jesse and I are pretty much doing the city hall type legal marriage. We can do some ceremony after we get settled. There's too many variables for us. When will the visa get approved? When will my house sell? Lets not add in the extra panic of only a couple months to plan/invite/get family uber-offended...

that's what our plan is, just a civil wedding a few days after my fiancé gets here so his papers can get start rolling.. the ceremony/church wedding takes a long time coz they still have seminars you gotta attend to and all.. so we will do that after the civil wedding.. in that way, we can really prepare our "dream wedding"

Mines trickier. Mostly iMessages and using an app called heytell. Don't know how to print all that stuff out.

We've been together since 2004.. spent 3 years together before i migrated to the US in 2007.. So am so eager to be with him again!!!!

His other "Canadian Girl" (aka, my dog) will be happy when we're all together as well, I think. Poor girl, she's stressed a bit with all the changes going on around the house (selling - we'll dissapear when the house is showing and she'll be sniffing and looking at me funny when we get back...mommy do you know SOMEONE ELSE WAS IN HERE?!?!?)

my little rescue mutt (okay, I say little....50-60 lbs of CRAZYDOG) has never ever taken to ANYONE as quickly as she took to him. Was kind of funny really.

We are just having a small wedding but will be having a simple reception afterwards, so will have to send out invites for those! We will set a 'date' when I know when my interview is, and just let people know it is only if all goes well! It will mostly be all his family and friends anyway...my parents and siblings and a few friends I know from there..that is it!

You guys are all way ahead of us! I only met him last February, we went on our first date in October when I was down there for a visit, never really made things official for awhile after that because he lived so far away.. we were both unsure about the distance thing, but then we both decided it is worth it and why wait when we know it is right??

Awwwe cute!! I will have to leave my boy home with my parents until we get settled , & eventually find a dog friendly place. They are thinking of either driving him to me (LONGG drive!) or meeting half way I will be eager to get him to me! I reallyyy want to avoid flying him!

He first mentioned me going down there on the K1 visa about a year and a half ago.

It just took about a year to decide yep, this is the way to go...and another bit of time to prep house for sale/get it up/etc. What can I say? I've been a fiercely independent something or other, who really...paniced at the thought of having to rely on someone else for things like living expenses...even though I'm hopefully not going to be jobless forever, the whole "YOU CAN'T LEGALLY WORK until the AOS goes through...and I wasn't sure how hard it would be to GET a job...I mean come on, legal assistant work differs from province to province (do NOT get me started on Quebec...those guys are just ...), I can only imagine hopping the border will be a whole other can of worms.

So, yes, I was scared. and terrified of "what if we get down there and he realizes "OMG SHE'S CRAZY!!!" but...he knows what he's getting into.

I don't blame you for wanting to avoid the flying time! Yikes! I remember the one time I flew my dog...Air Canada (hate those buggers). Well, they told me when I reserved yep, it's $110 since you're flying with her, that'll cover both ways. Just drop her off at the cargo terminal.

So I drop her off. That'll be $320 ma'am.

ONE WAY. $260 the other. Yikes. Poor girl was so stressed too. And from then on, I vowed. Road trips only with my girl. No more flying. (which, we did do about two summers ago, drove from Calgary to Ottawa...was fun.) Luckily for me, she's pretty good in the car.

And, if the K1 doesn't pan out by Christmas, we'll be doing that too. I made the decision that nuts to it, no matter what I'm spending Christmas with Jesse this year. And Christmas means family (which, Peach obviously is!)

CUTE! Love her!!! That is crazzyy expensive for her to fly!!

We will be just north of Salt Lake City, that's where he's going to school. The original plan was for him to move to Alberta to go to school there (I had plans to move out west before this happened:P), then we discovered how much more expensive tuition is for an international student! So, this is what works out best for us. I'm hoping AOS doesn't take super long.. I am going to go crazy sitting around not being able to work!
