hello! can somebody help me? I want to know how long does it normally take for a k-1 visa be approved by the USCIS? I filed my petition for my fiancee last October 4, 2006 and got a notice 3 days later. i find it very odd to know that my friend in Penssylvania filed for his petition July 28, 2006 and was approved August 4, 2006 while I had been waiting for almost 2 months for my application to be approved. Its just weird when I cjecjed the USCIS site and found out that they are cureently processing May 2006 applications. How come my friend got his that quick? I am aware that he hired a lawyer to process his but that shouldnt be the reason why he has the edge over me.. please help..

K-1 petitioners in the east, northeast part of our country have typically benefited greatly from this little unusual thing called VSC.

YMMV

Three things.

Lately I have been seeing a few cases running through CSC fairly quickly, considering the workload that they have, CSC has more adjudicators working at that center to help with the workload.

The posted times on the USCIS site are their way of saying don't bother calling us for at least 6 months with case status inquiries.

If you did your paperwork right, a lawyer won't make it go any faster. A lawyer can help make sure the forms are filled out correctly, and help with something complicated comes up. If a case is straight forward then a person should be able to do it them selves.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I don't have too much to add, beyond all you can do is wait with CSC. 2 to 3 months appears to be their normal processing time now, and you should be expecting your NOA2 any time now. Others are waiting far longer than you however, and the process is for sure impossible to predict.

Good luck, hang in there, you will be approved sooner or later!

3-4 months is more or less normal for CSC processing these days. Your friend's petition was probably filed at the Vermont Service Center which process much more quickly. BTW, a lawyer's assistance has no impact on processing times and USCIS posted times refer to the oldest case currently still unapproved.

All I can say is waiting times can vary, and as you see a July petition approved in August you'll also see that we still have a few March petitions without approval. You just need to be patient, nothing is wrong and laywer at this point won't speed your process.
