Old I-864

I'm sure most people are aware of the current delays if you sent in the new I-864 (if not, NVC is waiting on instructions from Dept of State on how to process the new I-864; DoS issued the new forms, but didn't tell NVC how to process *roll eyes*).

My I-864 package was received on May 7 (I received the "20 business days" email on that day) and I've called NVC 3x, but they can't do anything until DoS tells them how to process these new forms.

So I'm thinking of sending in the old I-864 form but I don't want to ####### things up.

1) So for those who sent in the old I-864 in the month of May, how many days did it take to process (ie. # of days between "20 business days" email and "I-864 processed" email)?

2) Anyone here sent in old I-864 after sending in new one? Any problems?

Thanks.

I believe if you want to send old form i believe you have time still...... But if you already sent new form, it wont make any difference sending the old form as even if nvc reviews the old form your case still will be open until they finish reviewing your new form... So there is nothing we can do other than wait... im in the same boat as you.

I've been thinking of doing this aswell but then saw that someone on the forum called NVC asking if it was a good idea. NVC said no.

Like jrh39 says, they won't just throw the new version away, they will keep the case open until all paperwork they received has been reviewed.

It's so frustrating. Waiting patiently is something I have done since January and its really wearing thin. Just when you see a light at the end of the tunnel - this happens.

Fingers crossed they sort themselves out very soon...

Yeah, I called NVC and they said it won't do any good sending in the old one, due to exactly what you said, they'll have to keep the file open anyway until the new one is processed. Frustrating. I thought I was doing a good thing by sending in the new form, but in hindsight, not the best thing. My worry was that by interview time (which would have been after the old form expired), Consulate was going to make a big deal about reviewing an old/expired form. Hope they process soon!
