Hi gang, we still are waiting for the NOA2 on the K-1 visa process, but, in thinking ahead to the proof of support, I had a question.

My current job is permanent and pays well over the required income for support - $55,000, but it started July, 2012, so it is fairly new. Will the fact that it is only a year old present a problem? (Prior to this, I still made over the income requirement every year with my previous employer (but one year it was only $25,000) if that makes any difference).

Maybe bring the paystubs and offer letter in addition to your tax returns. Thats what Im doing to show the most recent salary.

"Offer letter", meaning the letter by employer stating when I was hired, how much I make, and that it is a permanent job, etc?

I have a question regarding income and prove of employment. My employer,Target the retail company has their own system for providing prove of employment letter, which is a printout that uses official letterhead, it includes my name, social security, my job title, my income(which is over 70k/y) and years of employment(9 going on 10) on there, do I still need to get them to send me a written and signed letter stating the same?

Thank you

Thats useful too, but the offer letter I meant was the letter stating the company's offer to hire you when you applied for the position, which includes salary, bonuses, vacation days, etc. I'm actually using my promotion letter which states the same thing, to show the most recent salary.

Oh I didn't get such a letter. It was by phone that I was offered the job.

Shaoshao I think you have to check your country specific board for this question. I also thought I have to do this but then I checked the Philippines board (where the USEM will be reviewing the case), and everyone says its not needed if you are above the income requirements. You can instead use W-2, tax returns, salary stubs, etc. The regional boards will be helpful in this case because people there have gone through the process at the same embassy you will be going to.

That works. Also, most recent pay stub with YTD earnings.

You won't have any problems whatsoever.

Exactly, I had an employment verification letter done up by my job right after getting the NOA2 so it was dated closer to the interview date. It stated date started, title, yearly salary, full time and that it is a permanent position. Then right before mailing everything to her, I printed off the last 3 pay stubs/statements.
