Mistake in Son's Date of Birth

I have just noticed that I have made a mistake in my son's year of birth on the DS 230 pt 1(and probably the original application forms!) which came to light when I was filling in the DS 156k. I know I know I'm a terrible Father and how could I make such a mistake!...C'mon be kind I was only 2 years out! Lets just call it a simple typo from someone who has over-dosed on form filling recently!!

The trouble is I have already sent the DS 230 pt 1 (with the wrong date) to the London Embassy as the letter requesting the DS 156k and other forms came a week later.

The correct DOB means that my son is under 21 and although he is not travelling with me or planning to follow me I am "over-thinking" what I've done.

Should I send a cover letter when I send in the DS 156, DS 156k and DS157 explaining my mistake? Should i resend a corrected DS 230 pt 1? .. or just mention it at interview... or just leave it... or what?? Obviously his birth cert WILL have his correct DOB on it!

Thanks for your help :)

Also even though the forms ask for documents (like birth certs etc) to be included am I right in saying I just post the forms and I physically take the documents with me to interview??

Fill out a new form. All four forms were supposed to go together anyway according to their instructions. See Step One http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

Write something that says disregard the previous DS-230 as it contained in incorrect date. It could be a cover letter or even a sticky note on the new form.

Documents to interview.

This topic is embassy and London specific.

Thanks ok i'll do that.

The first letter I got gave a link to http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html which doesn't have all the extra forms. The second letter does so i guess i will reprint and correct the date and send it off again lol

They sent you the cr1 spouse letter by mistake. Happened to somebody else recently. Must have a new intern stuffing envelopes. This thread in the UK forum for the other couple. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/432656-link-in-packet-3-letter/

Glad you are back on track. :). It's good to keep your info straight and correct. If you apply to become a USC, everything you ever sent for Immigration is piled on the Interviewers desk. They are supposed to check it all, looking for discrepancies. If you are worried about petition forms, pinpoint the form where you made an error and maybe you can ask the London interviewer to make the change. Just say you made a dumb mistake. They are nice and will probably make a joke about it.
