thank you for the fast response and help here is the info i found but it does not say what type of visa we would have to apply for for my step daughter

If they want to travel later than one year from the date your K-1 visa was issued, they will not be eligible to receive K-2 visas, and separate immigrant visa petitions will be required.

any idea what visa will need to apply for ?

Your stepdaughter no longer qualifies for a K-2. A K-2 can only be issued up to one year after the issuance of the K-1. Since it has been 1 and 1/2 years since your wife's K-1, your stepdaughter cannot get a K-2.

Either you or your wife will need to file a new petition. Look at the Guides (button above this page). Everything starts with filing an I-130.

If your stepdaughter is under 21 right now and she was under age 18 when you married, then you her US citizen stepparent can file for her. This would be an CR-2 case which takes a year.

If you can't file for your stepdaughter, then her mom can file for her. It takes 2-3 years for an LPR to petition an unmarried child under age 21. This would be an F2a case.
