HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Hope you had or are having a great time with your family!

Off to my first question. Me and hubby filed our AOS/EAD application last September 15. We got a notice last Oct. 18 that the AOS has been transferred to CSC. Any significance to this? From what I read in other posts this means that the USCIS is doing a pilot program of "express" AOS processing at the CSC? Hmmmm . . . I don't know if that the correct phrase to describe it. :)

My second question is when can I start inquiring about the status of my EAD in the event that my AOS application has not yet been approved. The last time I checked, USCIS last "touched" my EAD application last October 10. It has not been touched since then. From what I have gathered at the USCIS website, we can start following up with USCIS in the event that the EAD has not been approved within a 90 day period.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

you can start in quiring on the 91st day from the NOA. Remember that the local offices do not give out EAD's anymore.

Just be patient. I know that is hard to do but it will come.

If you were transfered to CSC then most likely you will get your AOS approved well before the 91st day of your EAD application comes unless you get stuck in FBI name check ...

Not necessarily true.

I am pretty sure I said "most likely" and if you looked at the CSC transfer list you will see that "most" not all get their AOS approved within 75 days of thier NOA1 date ...

There are always some exceptions to the norm and we have no idea why some take longer than others but most feel it is because of FBI name check ...

The list you refer to is the VJ list. A very small sampling of what is happening at USCIS. It is also too early to tell if the current pattern will be permanent.

You can draw an estimate from a small sample. Look at any scientific staudy, you can extrapolate a result rom a small sample of the populatiopn and predict outcome for "most" people based on the data.

Simple.

Nothing is simple with USCIS.

My only point is I don't believe it is wise to advise members that a CSC transfer means an interviewless, speedy approval. It can lead to disappointment.

We were a CSC transfer and from the time of filing until our interview was 10 months (interview in Chicago). Then we got the supplemental medicals at the interview as an RFE and sent those in. I don't think being transferred is clear cut that you get to bypass anything.

Don't let anyone deter you from offering advice or an opinion. You didn't say that for sure x,y or z would happen. You offered what you felt was a valid opinion. I've seen all kinds of misinformation given out by people - people who aren't even in the same situation as the person asking the q.

Anyway, all advice and/or opinions expressed here should be taken with a grain of salt.

Waiting, positive information is always appreciated. All I'm trying to say is that everyone may not get the positive result you got from CSC.

From my perspective, I'm seeing what may end up being poor choices being made by other VJ members based upon the current CSC trend. I see members not filing for AP and EAD because first of all it is expensive to do so, and secondly they are 'gambling' that a CSC transfer will get them a speedy greencard.

I realize that my husband's case was not transferred to California, but I would absolutely HATE to see anybody else go through what we are experiencing with his greencard. We filed for it over a year ago, and just had to order a second EAD.

All I'm suggesting is at this point we should all remain cautiously optimistic about CSC. We really don't know if this pattern is long-term or simply an effort to clear a backlog.

And the larger picture is we don't know what may happen 2 years from now when lifting of conditions are filed by these couples. Will they then have to be interiewed? Will the process to naturalization be slowed down for them at this point for some yet unknown reason? Worse yet, will some be denied after having settled in the US?

I just think it's way to early to call what's happening at CSC a benefit, and that's all.
