Timeline

I got my second transfer notice today - dated December 30.

I have a theory. Every time they pick up one of our files, they have to scan the file number in, and key in SOME sort of notice to be generated. I think my first transfer notice (December 27) was when my file was picked up at Overland Park, and put into a box to be shipped somewhere.

I think my SECOND transfer notice (December 30) was when my file was unloaded at whatever service center I got transferred to. They scanned the file number in, and keyed in a notice.

For those of you who got third and fourth transfers, I'm betting that your file was picked up from one place (say, the main receiving desk) and moved to another section of the USCIS service center (which might be in a totally different building within the complex). This sending and receiving triggered notices 3 and 4.

It certainly doesn't mean they've LOOKED at the file - it's just that they have to track the files from building to building.

Sound plausible????

Sukie

Your theory is very much on the money Sukie. They have to scan the barcode on each file every time it moves from one place to another. They have to scan the barcode even if the file moves from one officer's desk to another in the same office. That is an organization's best practice to never lose a file. It looks like they are using some supply-chain management software (like UPS, Fedex) that also automatically sends alerts when a file is scanned, hence the "last updated" alerts we get via email/text and on the USCIS website.

I see Customs officers at the airports always carrying firearms and then I imagine the people at the service centers carrying barcode readers in their holsters laughing.gif

Quick PSA:

Roughly half of June transfers have yet to report where their petitions were transferred to. If you see this post and your center isn't listed by your name here, please add it or let me know and I'm happy to do it. I saw this morning someone accidentally overwrote another filer's information while trying to update their own, so as a reminder, please be careful and definitely reach out for assistance if you're not sure how to make the changes you need.

Everyone wondering what to expect from their service centers, the transfer sheets for previous months have excellent information. Looking at the March and April spreadsheets, it looks like CSC has consistently approved more of its transfers than the other centers. May had a wave of approvals last night so we should keep an eye on their data as it's updated, but so far for them CSC and NSC are just about neck and neck, with Texas lagging way behind.

March - Transfers with NOA2 by location
NSC: 62%
TSC: 42%
CSC: 86%

April - Transfers with NOA2 by location
NSC: 30%
TSC: 56%
CSC: 82%

Sadly that's right, USCIS won't speak to the beneficiary. It's a lousy system in every possible way. I hope your husband can get the info for you soon.

Our Pd June 24/13, our 129 & 130 transferred on Dec.27 to Nebraska Svc Center. Csn someone add this to the Junr Google Doc Flowchart. Thanks

Added you to the sheet, thanks!

APPROVED --------

Let me add something. Be careful of advise that you get in these kinds of forums. People do a lot of guessing and we were told we wouldn't get approval because my wife (fiancée at the time) overstayed her visa by 6 months. The people here do not really know the procedures. I was also told that when the case status was updated that the case was being moved. It was not -- we were approved soon after that. Caution to the wind ... not all cases are the same.
