I meant an NOA2 by May. ClockWatch2.gif

That will be 11 months. I'm going to go ahead and take them at their word that it'll take that long. Actually, it will be longer for us since we will have an I-130 interview.

It's hard to keep the faith. My husband and I are in our 60s. We both had been on our own for many years before meeting, while my husband was visiting relatives here in Ireland. It was almost too good to be true! We married 2 yrs later. And now this. We just want to enjoy our later years together, to live a little. We're both young at heart, retired, fit and healthy and have so much to look forward to. We didn't expect this. I just feel depressed.

We filed our I-130/CR1end of June and I-129F/K3 end of Aug. Until today I knew no more than everyone else on VJ. Today my congressman sent back a response from the USCIS from their inquiry on our case status.

- Both of our petitions have been joined and are still at the NBC

- Both of our petitions will be adjudicated at the same time (clearly now its been confirmed 129f/k3 visas are NOT being processed any faster

- "Due to processing delays at the VPC's unrelated to our case...." our applications will not be adjudicated until May 2014 (which puts us out to just about exactly 11mths)11mths appears to be the standard ongoing processing time now for most generally everyone with uncomplicated cases.

Bummer....my husband and I will have been married a year and a half before I see him again.........sad :'(

Wow, that's really depressing. Like I've told everyone else, my child will be walking and talking by the time my wife is over here. I'll miss so much of his/her life and the baby's not even due until April 1st. sad.png

So 11 months plus 4-6 months for NVC and embassy?

Hi JA, sorry to hear about that, 11 months is so long to wait! :-( We filed I-130/CR1 in June, and we had considered both options (K3 and IR1), but we heard both from our attorneys and from Visa Journey, that there was no benefit to the K3 visa anymore; in fact, it's actually taking longer and is more expensive than the IR1/CR1 process.

This page on Visa Journey summarizes it quite well - http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare .

When you contacted your congressman's office, did they indicate that there was any way that they could help expedite the process? We are about to go down that road now as well...

Yeah its a bummer. Does appear to be 3-4mths after approval for everything else to be over.

Goofy that they even let people go through the K application but they put that law out there that they had to provide the option so I suppose they can't just say its BS.

We're really like most everyone else out here....can't really afford to spend the money to travel over there beforehand when we're hoping I can go back to bring him home when its all over......pretty discouraged.

When I wrote to my congressman, I told them what I was seeing in general with 130 processing times and how discouraging it is for the thousands and thousands of us out here who are just waiting. My request of them was to assist me with finding out where my two applications are so at least I don't feel like I'm just floating around somewhere, I didnt expect they would be able to make it move any faster.

The benefit I believe to asking them to intervene was at least they were able to speak to someone who would give them more information than we appear to get from calling the USCIS on our own. And altho I'm not sure it did anything on the other side the USCIS did respond to their email inquiry and suggested that if I didnt hear something back by May that I let my congressman know. The congressional office has flagged my inquiry in their office to make the contact again in May.

Perhaps it just feels better to know someone listened and might have a better posture to be able to communicate with real people vs Tier 1 cust serv.

I say go for it...perhaps if more people get the congressional folks in it, maybe it will stir something up!!

I did ask them to recheck the 129 since that was supposedly put out there to get around the 130 delays. I saw a 129 Fiance visa post this morning their NOA1 on 6/27 and they have an interview date as of yesterday.

Makes me nuts..I realize there is a huge difference and also way more costly to come on a K3 but i had already resolved that with myself when i decided to send that one in two months after the 130.

If i hear more or less from my congressman I'll update here again.
