We're halfway through October, and I wanted to see where things stand. Thought I'd share what VJ data shows for anyone who's interested.

21 petitions approved as of October 16

Approvals by month filed:

  • November: 2
  • January: 4
  • February: 1
  • March: 6
  • April: 3
  • May: 2
  • June: 1
  • July: 2
Average processing time for petitioners approved through October 16: 7 months.

For perspective, there were 14 petitions approved in the month of September and the average processing time was 7.3 months.

The average hasn't gone down much yet, but the pace is picking up. Rays of hope for our March and April friends looking for a late Oct/early Nov approval smile.png For me personally, I'm hoping a snowball effect will get June petitions approved by the end of the year.

Hehe, that's why I specified the figures were through October 16 happy.png I'll take another look at the end of the month to see if USCIS has kept up this processing pace. Another ~20 approvals this month would be fantastic as compared to how slow and awful September was.

I saw the April approval, so happy for them! kicking.gif

I'd bet a dollar it's sooner than that for June. If I had to give an over/under for June currently, it'd be November 30.

The sooner the better of course, I'd love if that ended up being the case. But with the end of November only 6 weeks away and May filers barely touched at this point, I'm afraid to be too optimistic. Are you thinking Overland Park is going to really start hauling?

I think they've been hauling for awhile (a month or so), but we haven't seen the USCIS official data to back that up (only through Aug 31).

However, I do feel that June filers are lucky, as that March-June group will be processed (as I've seen) essentially at the same time due to size of backlogs/queues and rapid expansion of capability, which is why I think Nov 30 is realistic.

I could be wrong, but I do know that there a lot of June filers already approved, and have been since late-Sept til now.

Maybe the pace is picking up, but let's not get overconfident. There was a backlog of 1million I-130's as of the end of June.

So, please, everyone, take a look at my post:

The letter that is referenced in that post is here:

Let's keep up the pressure.

Let's keep up the pressure.

I've sent letters with a summary of the group's goals and a link to the website to all 4 major Houston television stations, as well as the Houston Chronicle.

Additionally, I can't say I know where your one million number comes from... source? I'm seeing 300,000.

Thank you, great.

To see the backlog of alien relatives' I-130s, go to:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=d67819e0b1001310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=d67819e0b1001310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

Then check out the March 2013 pdf (the most recent published). Look at the backlog after the end of the 2nd fiscal quarter, the exact number is: 1,062,526. About half are at NBC.

Thanks for that.

A few things -

  • Fiscal Q2 is from Jan-March, so the latest report is through March 2013
  • That 1,000,000+ pending for immediate relatives at the end of March is a very wonky number.

I can follow the math from the Q1 report: pending from last quarter + receipts from this quarter - completions this quarter = pending this quarter.

That math checks out, and even in the Q2 report, the receipts and completions sums work.

However, basically, using the equation I have above, we should have at the end of Q2: 176646 pending from Q1 + 254974 received Q2 - 168258 completed Q2 = 263363 pending at end of Q2

However, the report shows over a million. That's 750,000 that are not accounted for anywhere in the table.

More simply - how can you start with 175,000 pending from Q1, receive 250,000 more in Q2, complete 170,000 in Q2 (essentially completing all of the pending from Q1), and then still end up with 1,000,000 (!!) still remaining at the end of Q2? It doesn't match.
