We are finely combing through our AOS packet.

Came across something not sure how to answer. Page 3, question #2:

Have you ever received public assistance in the United States from any source, including the US gov, or any state, county, city, municipality (other than emergency treatment), or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?

Not sure to check yes or no.

Just once I went to the neighborhood health clinic to have my pregnancy confirmed before setting up an appointment with an OBGYN. I paid $15 just for the check-up.

Now since the pregnancy has been confirmed we have met with an OBGYN and set-up a payment plan since we didn't have insurance to cover the pregnancy costs. We will not be using any public assistance to cover the pregnancy and are not likely to receive public assistance in the future. At the time we had just arrived to the US for holiday. Now due to the pregnancy we are filing AOS and my husband has found a job here.

I spoke with the neighborhood health clinic and they said their service is to the community and its not like we are getting government assistance. So not sure how to answer this because I don't want to do the wrong thing, but also don't want to raise red flags because we have not and will not be using other types of government assistance such as food stamps, housing, medicaid, etc.

Any advice is appreciated.

Although in my opinion you should have applied for pregnancy Medicaid or something at the time, if you didn't have insurance, and you guys had no income. Now that your husband has a job, hopefullly his job has insurance that can cover you.

We did apply and were approved for emergency Medicaid, but I think working it out with the hospital is better than risking any immigration problems because of it.

I researched it quite a bit and noticed that emergency pregnancy is not considered a public charge, but was still wanting to be 100% clear and not worrying that the IO would not see it that way.
