What happened with the greencard is normal. If you are married less than 2 years by the time you enter the USA, you get a 2 year greencard and then ROC (remove conditions) 2 years later, proving you are still happily married.

YOur US citizen wife can receive government you, in most cases, cannot.

Your. greencard is based on 2 years as a conditional residence here in the U.S and 90 days before the expiry date of your greencard you must file an I-751 to remove those conditions! The conditions is that you entered into the marriage in good faith and have not circumvented immigration laws to get the greencard in the first place and will be asked to submit evidence from your relationship during that period.

If the I-751 is approved you will be issued a 10 year Greencard

You will get no help from government bodies as your wife will have signed an agreement with the Government to state she will support you for the next 10 years or until you become a citizen and should you claim anything that you are not entitled to, she will have to pay it back!

If I were you, I would concentrate on seeking a job and start keeping documents and records that show you are committed to the relationship such as rental agreements, joint bank account details, joint loans should you get any and any other paperwork that shows a Bonafide marriage.

When you file the I-751 (90 days before your 2 year green card expires), there is no financial information asked about. They want proof that your marriage is for real and not just for a green card. You must co-mingle bank accounts, lease in both names, utility bills in both names, take lots of pictures with both of you in them. Build a case to prove to immigration you are truly a couple. But they do not care about your wife getting financial aid for housing or food. You are not legally entitled to receive any help but she may.

Good luck and bonjour!

You list methods that MAY be used to so your relationship but it is not a MUST. Each couple will have their own methods but there are really few MUST do's. My husband does not show up on my real estate, it is a business on my own, when we bought the cars he didn't have a social so his name isn't on them. He just passed his citizenship so they are NOT must dos

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Of course each couple's situation is unique, yours is very unique since you own a business.

I was just mentioning a few general items that would be helpful; he will need to read other peoples experiences on this forum for a better list; my list was not complete or exhaustive.

He needs to line up his own proof of relationship items now so that he won't be caught unaware when the I-751 needs to be sent in.

No worries, your advices are great! I would have recommended the same thing. Rather have more stuff, than missing just one thing that particular IO would ask for...
