No issue, but they may not allow you to apply with your married name (in case you want to change your name after marriage). It's not a big problem though, you would just have to wait for your green card or work authorization card in hand to change your name on your SS card.

are there any issues if we get married before applying for SS #.??

I see we should wait 2=3 weeks to apply for SS#, but if we marry first will this delay SS#.?

There is no difference. BUT there are all kinds of stories people have been told by untrained SS workers.

"You got married so you are no longer a K1, but a K3"...umm no.

So to get the least possible nonsense, apply in the maiden name exactly as written on the I-94 and don't even bring up the marriage. The name can be changed later. Meanwhile you've got a number.

I took my fiance down and got her SS card before we got married and then after we were married we took our certified license back and had them give her a new card with her married name on it. No problem. A friend took his wife that just came to the US (they were married in VN) and the SS office said no SS card until the I-485 is approved.

My fincee and I arrived on Saturday, April 29, 2011. On Monday she went to get her SS. On Wednesday we got married. No problem. Later she just had to apply for name change. That's all. Do it ASAP!
