You have to show strong ties to suggest you will return back. Rent contract, employment contract, evidence that you're studying etc.

Some times yes and no, depends where you are from and you can show strong ties to take you back home.

I live in Paris. My fiancée lives in New Jersey.

We filled a K-1 application in January 2013.

I have travelled to the US several times before January and 2 times after (March and May) and never had any problems.

The last two times, they did not even ask me a lot of questions. They did not ask me anything about my fiancée or my pending case.

I took with me lots of paperwork based on what I read on the forum just in case but I did not have to show anything.

So I would say yes you can travel but just be sure to have everything you need in case they ask for it even if it never happened to me.

PS: I was flying to Newark Airport.

It depends on what exactly you mean. Filing for a fiance visa does not by itself give you the right to visit the USA, you would need a tourist visa (or be from a VWP country/ Canada).
