When you recieve your I-797 ( noa2 ) approval letter that you recieve in the mail. Read the first paragraph and just to make sure that your K-1 petition is going to NVC .

Let me explain what has happened to our approved petition .

We were approved on May 20 th . 5 days later i recieved our I-797 in the mail . So just looking threw it and just doing some reading , i was thinking , great in another 5 days or less i can starting making some calls to the NVC and checing on out to see if we have recieved our case number. Also i email them within 7 days as well .

Well my fiancee is a little bit anxious , and decided she wanted to call NVC and see about our case number. So she made the call and was told they haven't recieved our petition yet. The following day after i was told by her that they dont have our petiton yet from CSC . I make the call and was also told they dont have our WAC number in there system. Meaning they dont have our petiton after 10 days.

Now NVC tells me to give CSC and call and find out if they have sent our petition .

I call CSC , give them my WAC number , she looks it up , says its been approved and has been sent to NVC . Well i explain to her that they dont have it . She then ask's me if i recieved our I-797 in the mail . I say yes i have it here in my hand now. She then say's , read the first paragraph and tell me what it says .

I dont have the I-797 here while making this post to type in word for word. So it just says that your petition is approved and has been sent to your consulate.

Well once i read that to her , she says , sir your petition has been sent to your Consulate . I go " Really " how can that be. Our K-1 visa suppose to go to the NVC to be assigned a case number. And she says yes thats whats suppose to happen .

I ask now , so what am i suppose to do now . Ah she says , You should call your consulate and see if they have your petition . I need to call the Manila consulate to see if my petition is there ? Yes sir.

Well thats great, i say . Then i ask her , do you have the number ? hehehe

No sir i sure dont. lol

So now i try calling but of coarse time zone difference .

I let my fiancee know all what has happened. So now she makes the call to the Manila Consulate.

She finds out from them that our petition is here . She ask's them for a case number , but that is not one for our petition .
So the consulate tells my fiancee that they will email the NVC and get this taken care of and hopefully get us our case number so we can move ahead on this oh so long process .

Please read your I-797 when it arrives , just to make sure that your petition is being sent to the correct location its suppose to go.

Just a little info for everyone .

ALL... as in ALL petitions go to NVC where they do a review, get the MNL# assigned then ship the packet to Manila. Why USCIS states the petition has been forwarded to the consulate and not NVC I don't know, but as stated ALL petitions go to NVC first.

Now how quickly the petition gets to NVC can vary, but usually after 7-10 business days NVC has your packet... usually. From there its a quick review, the assignment of the MNL # and then shipping it to Manila (with many others so sometimes yours will sit waiting for others until they have the "box" filled.

Relax. Things will start to go much faster now. But relax just a little.

There is a link in my signature right below this post that takes you to the complete K-1 process for Manila. Give it a read.

It was not clear from the post by Richard & Geh, but it appears that the Fiancee in the Philippines called the Manila Consulate and the case files were actually at the Embassy in Manila without having a case number assigned. Is that correct?

Yes the his fiancée called the embassy but after that there is confusion... I think they are hyperventilating laughing.gif , they need to slow down and take a deep breath.

All 129 petitions are sent to NVC, then forwarded to the correct consulate.

If you petition has been approved at USCIS then wait about 7-10 business days and contact NVC to get your consulate case #.

For the NVC:
Check on your embassy case number:

Give them 7 - 10 days before calling. Call after 4:45 PM eastern time for shorter wait times K1's are not tracked through the AVR, ever. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

1-603-334-0700 Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

Press 1 for English
Press 5 for an operator

NVC CONTACT INFORMATION:

Website: www.immigrantvisas.state.govwww.immigrantvisas.state.gov

E-mail: NVCInquiry@state.gov (I found NVC to be very quick responding to emails)

REQUIRED SECURITY INFORMATION:

You are required to provide the following security information with each inquiry to receive a case specific response:

* NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number (Place in the subject line of the e-mail).
* Petitioner's name and date of birth.
( NOTE: If the visa petition is employment-based, include the employer's company/organization name instead of the petitioner's name and date of birth. )
* Principal Applicant's name and date of birth.

Yes the petition is at the Manila Embassy , as what my fiancee was told by the consulate at the Manila Embassy .

And yes all cases are suppose to go to the NVC , but our's did not make it there for the review and assignment of the case number.

Now what the consulate told my fiancee is that they are going to make the most possible effort to correct this issue and will be in contact with my fiancee when they recieve and answer from the NVC .

Giving a little info to everyone on VJ , just take the time to read that I-797 first paragraph , and see if they are sending it to the right destination .

just saying this since USCIS CSC asked me what my I-797 read .

" People can make mistakes " . that can lead to a different outcome than what's suppose to happen.

I can say i am calm and collective to all this process. Waited this long for an approval , whats another month or two.

I really hate the tracking software used at USCIS, it was great for a long time, when it was the DELL GOV SERVICES unit that was writing it and supporting it.

That business unit was sold to SERCO last year, and since then, mis-routings have occured solely because of the new coding and new features that the SERCO crew put into the software.

I would love to SerCO to give this up, and release it back to DELL GOV SERVICES - these fellas did a stellar job for 4 years...

God how I hate SERCO...

Richard, in the end, it really was a human that sent it on, as the routing label system spat out direct shipment to Manila IV. That rarely happens, I blame operator error, but in the end, that operator was using the new SERCO software...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
